Guest guest
Hello again all, One of the things I look for in a scan is the relative size of the adrenals, as the size and weight of endocrine glands vary enormously from person to person. Adrenal glands are reported to vary in weight from 7 to 20 grams in normal adults while the thickness of the gland varies from 0.5 to 5.00 mm, or a tenfold variation. The variation, according to the scientist , would be expected to result in a tenfold variation of adrenal activity. I seek to determine intuitively (maybe there are more conventional ways to determine this?) whether the doctor is treating the exhaustion of otherwise normal adrenals, or (or in addition) a case of genetically under-sized adrenals, which make it very difficult to live a life that Americans consider " normal. " It appears that the perspective in treatment has similarities and some differences, with a particular emphasis on lifestyle and realistic expectations of " normal " for those few (I get it to be only about 5% of those presenting with adrenal fatigue) who have very under-sized adrenals. There is also the issue of atrophied adrenals over time, but here I'm referring to an actual genetic anomaly that I believe is sometimes associated with mutations in StAR. As always, I hope there's something here that's useful - as there is for me in all your posts, Warm regards, Shadburne Medical Intuitive/ Bio-energy Healer susan@... www.shadburne.com
