Hi Maurice and All,

The Conditioning Emulsifier (CE) (behentrimonium methosulfate and cetearyl

alcohol) does make one of the nicest creams/lotions...in my opinion! I have

just today been experimenting with another ingredient, guar

hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride. I believe Maurice has mentioned this

ingredient before to use in a conditioning shampoo and it is fabulous!

Leaves my hair sooo silky and full of bounce and body. I've tried it with

the polyglucose blend and the cocobetaine blend so far. It is THE ingredient

for a conditioning shampoo. It has the extra benefit of adding viscosity and

stability to formulations. I didn't need to use any additional thickener in

my shampoo. I decided to try the guar in a couple of my standard lotion

formulas at 0.5% (recommended usage is 0.2-1% for most formulations) to see

if it would give my skin the same silky feel. I tried it with a standard

polawax formula and then with my basic CE formula. My favorite so far is the

one with the CE. Very nice! Leaves skin just as silky feeling as it does

hair! I think I am in love with a new ingredient! Funny what gets you all

excited once you're past 40 ;)
