Yesterday I was in a continuation ARD in Fort Bend ISD for autistic child. I

was on the verge of tossing my lunch as I listened to the teacher and

resource teacher explain how they were going to teach this child to read.

They were offering an hour a day in class support for this child. The whole

language of skipping, substitution, guessing and looking at the pictures is

better known as the Cueing System. These " educators " went on to explain this

was the reading method they use throughout the district for all children.

Then they went on speaking about Reading Recovery and all the wonderful

outcomes for students. Considering this doesn't align with replicated

medical/scientific models in reading apparently doesn't matter anymore.

Abuse comes in all forms and shapes and this is another example on how

schools destroy kids!!!!!!

Considering preliminary findings from a National institutes of Health study

currently going on at SMU the district is way out of compliance on reading

instruction.

I have yet to find one district in Texas that has the proper reading program

or intervention program for reading problems in Texas.
