Exactly - and I would suggest that everyone send the same email/letter to

Representative Garnet who himself has bipolar disorder and is a very

strong advocate for children and others. He represents part of

County and sits on the County Affairs and Public Health committees. My

oldest son went to speak before the legislature and this gentleman was most

gracious and caring.

In case you're would you like to do something, I suggest that a letter to

the school board members with cc:s to your local state representative and

senator would be help to turn up the heat on Klein.

Also, Klein ISDs representatives are listed below. People who are in Klein

district who are constituents will be able to have a lot more impact by

writing these two, but you could send it along to them as well as your own

representatives and senators. If you have extra time, you might want to

send your letters to all the members of the Senate education committee which

has the interim charge to look at accountability in public schools this

summer. I believe Sen. is a member of that committee in addition to

being Klein’s Senator.

For those of you who would like to write something, but not sure what to

write, I’ve pasted my letter below the legislative contact info.

Dear Superintendent Cain:

Below is a copy of a letter that I have sent to every school board member

and will be sending to local legislators about the appalling way Klein is

allowed to treat children with special needs.

I hope covering up for the poor staff is worth all of our tax dollars that

your shoving into lawyers’ wallets. Somehow, I doubt it.

I will let you know that the University of Houston at Clear Lake has a

professor who is a behavior analyst that specializes in children with

emotional disorders.

Austin, Ph.D., BCBA,

Assistant Professor

(Ph.D., Florida State University – 1999)

College teaching, school-based interventions, and teacher training

Also

HYPERLINK " http://coursesite.uhcl.edu/HSH/Lerman " Dorothea C. Lerman, Ph.D.,

BCBA,

Professor and Coordinator of the ABA Sub-Plan

(Ph.D., University of Florida - 1995)

Autism and developmental disabilities, functional analysis, treatment of

severe behavior disorders, and parent and teacher training

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I just saw the FOX 26 new report on Danny ’s appalling treatment by

your district. HYPERLINK

" http://tinyurl.com/3m8bza " http://tinyurl.com/3m8bza

Since Ms. ’s complaint to TEA was substantiated, I suggest that Klein

ISD needs to consider cleaning house this summer because is it quite obvious

that your staff, contrary to Klein ISD’s statement to the media, is not

trained in how to develop, write or implement effective Functional Behavior

Assessments. Has your board looked at how much this lack of training is

costing the district in legal fees (hmm, I would guess the district is being

represented by Walsh ) versus how much the APPROPRIATE training and

consultant fees from a properly credentialed behavior analyst would be????

HYPERLINK

My guess that the latter option would not only be saving the tax payers of

Texas an enormous amount of money but that it would benefit the families and

teachers of your district as well.

I will let you know as an active parent advocate in the Greater Houston

area, Klein ISD has an abysmal reputation for its ability to provide free

and appropriate services.

I sincerely hope all the teachers, the special ed directors, the aides and

the administrators who have helped to turn Danny into a “criminal on

paper” are not only fired but stripped of their educational certifications.

Anyone who has called in a police report for their own failure to follow the

Behavior Intervention Plan does not deserve the opportunity to continue to

abuse children like that.

My question to you is, do you have the courage to stand up for children like

Danny and do what is right?

For your information, I will make sure that this case in particular is

discussed during the Interim Education Committee hearings and that it is

brought to the attention of the members of that committee as well as your

own local representation.

Appalled in Houston,
