Guest guest
Hi Brad, I spent thirty years in the film business with screenwriting as my through line, and I'd agree with 's figures in the most general sense. But film budgets are written with those figures in mind. Even though most writers don't belong to the Writer's Guild, the Guild's rates still set the precedent for a writer's pay scale and many of the most experienced -i.e., those with the most impressive resumes- won't write for less. There are many budgets in other industries that wouldn't come close to supporting those figures for a writer. I think $25/hr. for experienced web writers is considered about standard, and, in these economic times, I wonder about that. By the way, research isn't considered in the same ball park as writing and will command a much lower rate, generally speaking. Here's a link to a Writer's Digest article on writing by the hour versus writing for a set fee. I think it's very good and worth a thought in these times when all eyes are on the bottom line: http://www.writersdigest.com/article/flat-fees-vs-hourly-rates/ Good luck with your venture!
