Now cries in the morning " I cannot go to school where the " mean lady is.she made them all hate me " . Wednesday afternoon when his mother Barton picked the boy up from school stated, with tears in his eyes, that 14 classmates voted him out of the class. His mother sought further information from 's kindergarten teacher. It is alleged that Portillo, his teacher, admitted that she had in fact stood up in front of his kindergarten peers and asked them in turn, one by one, to tell him why they do not like him. It is further alleged that as stood in the center of the class, his teacher asked each child to point out something he is or does that they do not like about him and vote if he is worthy enough to stay in the class. 14 children voted that , the Autistic boy be removed from the class. The teacher then allegedly asked the boy where he would go now that the class doesn't like him the boy replied, " to the office? " the teacher returned with " they do not want you there " then the 5 year old said " home " the teacher said your mom is at work you can't go home. He finally said that he would go to the nurse and the teacher sent him out of the classroom to the office where he stayed for the remainder of the day. At this time the school resource officer and the district attorney see no reason to press criminal charges against the teacher. Phone calls to the superintendent of Port St Lucie Schools have not been returned. is currently under evaluation from the school for the possibility of being Autistic, and Asperger's Disorder. His principal has initiated getting 's proper diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome. " He has many of the symptoms of Aspergers " says his mother. " The teacher knew that he was under evaluation even having a part-time assistant just for , and she decided that the best way to handle him would be through humiliation from his peers. I cannot imagine how he must have felt as his teacher encouraged the other students to bully by telling him he is disgusting and they do not like him among other things. This is abuse and discrimination among other things; I will not soon let this go " says Barton. " The moment he needed me the most, I was at work. I do not know if he will ever trust teachers again, I do not know if I will ever trust the Port St Lucie School District again. I know it will be a while before I can convince my little boy that learning is fun. I am deeply sorrowed by the pain my child suffered at the hands of his Port St Lucie school teacher. " Mrs.. Barton went on to say, " This is a sad day for parents of disabled children across the USA. I am now seeking the help of a physiatrist for my son as he refuses to eat, sleep in his own room and other problems that arrived directly after the abuse. I urge any parent that child may have had contact with Mrs. Portillo to speak to their children about the daily activities that go on in this class. Do not be afraid to call the police if you suspect something is wrong in your child's class. " What is Asperger Syndrome? Asperger Syndrome (AS) is considered a pervasive developmental disorder at the higher functioning end of the autism spectrum. It is characterized by sustained impairment in social interaction and the development of restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests and activities. In contrast to autism, there are no obvious delays in language or cognitive development, or in age appropriate self-help skills and adaptive behaviors, though there are subtle impairments. Guest guest
ok, but are the individual states able to view other state's complaints? a teacher being fired means nothing to me - it's why a teacher is fired that is important. if a physician has malpractice suits that end with sealed agreements, you never what happened-just that there was a suit. doctor may have been innocent and it was cheaper to settle than rack up atty fees and lose time away from work. > > From: singin4mom & lt;HYPERLINK > " mailto:singin4mom%40yahoo.com " singin4mom@... & gt; > Subject: Re: Autistic 5 year old > allegedly > physically, mentally abused by teacher > To: HYPERLINK > " mailto:Texas-Autism-Advocacy%40yahoogroups.com " Texas-Autism-Advocacy@yahoog > roups.com > Date: Sunday, May 25, 2008, 11:34 AM > > I am disgusted and this teacher should immediately be fired > and criminal > charges brought against her. & nbsp; This was absolutely > emotional abuse and > should not be tolerated. & nbsp; I feel so sad for this > child. & nbsp; My son is > in kindergarten and has Aspergers so I can completely > relate. & nbsp; It takes > much less then this for a child like this to be turned off > from > school. & nbsp; This is so terrible. & nbsp; My prayers > go out to this family. > > [Texas-Autism- Advocacy] Autistic 5 year old > allegedly physically, > mentally abused by teacher > > Autistic & lt;HYPERLINK > " http://69.89.
