Thank you all, Nagla The Autism Society of Collin County (ASCC) is a chapter of the Autism Society of America. We were formed in 1996. Our membership is made up of parents, education professionals, and adults with autism spectrum disorders, primarily from Plano, , Carrollton, and North Dallas. However, our meetings are open to all who wish to attend. Children of our members represent a wide range of the autism spectrum, and include diagnoses of autism, PDD, PDD-NOS, and Asperger's Syndrome. We have board members who are individuals with Asperger's Syndrome. ASCC is a dynamic and active part of the community. We take every opportunity to advocate for people on the Autism Spectrum. In addition to monthly speaker meetings, we hold two parent support meetings, and we are involved in ongoing police training at the Police Academy in Mckinney, and Plano Texas. As well as sponsoring our own annual resource fair, we participate in many community disability awareness events like the Plano ISD Transition Fair, the ARC of Dallas Disability Expo and March for Respect. ASCC strives to present autism awareness information at every opportunity available, and we are frequently called upon to speak to various groups in our community about autism. The Autism Society of Collin County (ASCC) believes the State of Texas should promote the development of services and resources for individuals with PDD or autism throughout their lifetime. ASCC will strive for the State of Texas to provide knowledge and understanding of individuals with PDD or autism to insure their freedom of choice, safety, equality, and dignity in becoming an included and contributing part of society. The ASCC's Scheduled Monthly General Meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of the month at St. United Methodist Church (1401 Mira Vista, Plano, Texas) at 7:00 p.m. Sign up for ASCC's Group E-mail list at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ascc2/join ASCC P.
