Guest guest
Hi Donna. We tried Spiriva with me for a while. It is a powdered inhaled form of Iptatroprium Bromide (which is also an ingredient in the inhaler Combivent and the liquid DuoNeb for nebulizers). While I was on the Spiriva, I used albuterol in my neb only to prevent an overdose. In my case, we figured out that the liquid works better than the powdered form for me. Some people do better with the powdered form. Spiriva is used to combat bronchospasms in the smooth lung muscle walls. Madeline > > I have just been prescribed " Spiriva " . I have not purchased it yet ........ I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has tried this and has had good luck with it or anyone who has not had good luck with it. I know we all react differently to drugs ..... I am going to purchase it tomorrow and give it a try ... but sometimes its good to know how other people reacted to such things. > > Thanks for your help. > > Donna J. >
Guest guest
Hi Donna. I take Spiriva and have had really good luck with it. It reduces the amount of mucuous in your lungs which is very helpful to me. Before I started taking Spiriva I felt like I was drowning in mucuous all the time. I still have some of those days, but it's not EVERY day. I hope you have good luck with it too. It did take awhile before I noticed the effects, but it is one of the main drugs the drs say they wouldn't take me off of. I'm still waiting for official diagnosis info from National Jewish, but even if they said I didn't have asthma for sure and it's a different lung disease, Spiriva is one of the drugs they won't change. Guest guest
A pharmacy representative (who sells a product that competes with Spiriva) told me recently that research shows that asthmatics who use Spriva regularly, as directed have better results than almost any other long-term drug (as opposed to emergency inhalers).
