Guest guest
Quick question. Our 2 yo NT child bumped his head today and had to go to the doc (his regular pediatrician), in need of stitches, but not too serious. Since his older brother is dx autistic, and we believe it to be vaccine related, we have not had the baby vaccinated. The doc wanted to give the baby a DT shot in addition to cleaning the wound and stitching (even though he knows our family history and has been working with us and the vaccine issue ... he had already once pushed us into getting the Hib). We refused, and he refused to treat the child at all, and has threatened to report us to the Dept of Families and Children. We took the baby to an emergicare immediately, who cleaned and dressed the wound, and had no problem with not vaccinating the baby. Further research with a DAN doc via telephone indicated that perhaps it would be ok to get the DT, but did not sound required in this instance (they are also sending us a newly developed possible vaccine protocol for this type of vaccine damage at-risk child). Research at the CDC site also indicated that getting the tetanus toxoid after injury would confer no protection from this injury in any event. My wife and I are quite upset at this whole situation, in particular the doc's refusal to render ANY medical treatment (I thought they had an oath to live up to). My wife also felt very intimidated, threatened and harassed by the whole thing, and I'm concerned about her mental state and the stress this has added to her life. Any thoughts?
