I have a herniated L4-L5. I have great pain in my hip and left leg whenever

I exercise but am determined to stay in shape (I know, I need to let my body

heal but it could take years!).

My question is this: Is it OK to continue doing squats as long as I use

completely proper form or is this dangerous? I do them on a machine

so spotting is not a problem.

Have you discussed this with your physician? I can't give you

medical advice, but before you DO anything in the gym, get a complete

medical release from your doctor. Did the person who diagnosed you

tell you what to expect from L-4,L-5 herniations?

Glenda

PS: I too, have L-4,L-5 herniations. I truly sympathize.
