Guest guest
Hi Alana: I agree with you regarding the study being faulted for reasons. Asthma medications as a group elevate blood pressure and heart rate in most patients. These side effects are critically compounded when experiencing an asthma attack, which causes both to soar to highly dangerous levels. I know from experience this is what happens, and have measured my responses to medication, and when attacks occured. The studies do not mention the actual cause of death, whether any patients had heart disease, hypertension, high cholesterol, etc. ALL significant contributing factors to asthma deaths (everyone in this group take CAREFUL note of these facts!) Early on after being diagnosed, I tried Serevent for a month. Doctor said I really needed the corticosteroid in Advair as well. Salmeter- ol is only a bronchodilator, treating constriction. Advair treats this and the inflammation that happens when exposed to allergens or irritants, that narrow the airways (hence the term reactive airways) due to inflammation. You need Advair if you have Pulmonary Flare, a condition of extreme inflammation that only some kind of steroid is going to ameliorate (often Prednisone, which I HATE!) Prednisone has over 50 serious side effects, and should have a Blackbox label itself in my opinion! I use Advair 250/50 myself, find it very effective and safe. The el- evation of my blood pressure using it is 10-15 points. It can protect me from attacks, and lessen their severity. To prevent runaway blood pressure, I use Ativan 1mg. 3x daily to counteract the side-effects of asthma meds and attack symptoms. Many of you use Xanax to do the same. Ativan does not have the side effects of Xanax or Valium, at least for me. Without Ativan and using Advair, my blood pressure is in the range of 135/90. With Ativan it is 120/80. My total cholest- erol is about 152, LDL 108. If you use Omega-3 supplements, DO NOT use more than once a week to boost your HDL like I need to. In time you'll get the right ratio if you have fish once a week too. What these supplement mfrs. don't tell you is your total cholesterol is going to be boosted, and could put you in a higher range if you take too much. Something to be careful about and monitor w/blood tests. I happen to metabolize HDL more than other people, so it's a struggle for me to keep it in the right ratio of bad to good (LDL/HDL). Hope this clears up anyone's apprehensions about using Advair. Only your doctor or pulmonologist can determine with spirometry which of the asthma meds you should be using, based on test results and your individual response, complications and contraindications included. Guest guest
The best way to lower your blood pressure is by losing weight. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > The truth on the 8 drugs doctors wouldn't take - > > > > > > > > > > > > Advair - > > > > > > > > > > Their claim: > > > > Advair " may contribute to as many as 5,000 asthma-related deaths in > > the United States each year. Guest guest
, After what happened to me, yes, I totally agree with you. Alana Prednisone has > over 50 serious side effects, and should have a Blackbox label itself > in my opinion!
Guest guest
I can't stand advair, when I started on it. I kept saying it made me feel funny, and refused to take it until my doctor prescribed symbicort for daily use instead. What are they saying about Advair? advair I have been reading that advair is really bad for you now, is there something else we should be using instead?
