Guest guest
Your IgE level is a measure of the body's response to an allergen. 416 is a fairly substantial number and means that you are definitely responding to something. Another round of allergy testing is in order. However, mine tends to climb up to around 570 - 600 from time to time and we have never been able to find my triggers. I keep testing negative to all the skin and allergy tests. No allergic triggers to pollens, molds, pets, or foods which are the most common. We think that I may have developed an actual allergy with my reaction to the ozone. Some people never find their allergy because it is environmental. I know there is a facility in Texas that does specialty allergy testing (very expensive and most insurances will not cover it unless all other avenues have been exhausted). That facility tests for gases such as nitrogen, metals, minerals and other off the normal things. However, even without knowing your trigger, that type of response is exactly what Xolair is designed to do. Sounds like you are a perfect candidate for it. Your IgE number is in their " most effective " range. You really should talk to your doc about that! Guest guest
What is IGE? Terry I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. Guest guest
I think 'bad' is a relative term. Mine is only 32 yet I qualify for treatment with Xolair. Others have IgE over 1000. Guest guest
Hi: Your IgE is elevated from the asthma, not too bad. Mine is 1047. You need to take a RAST blood test (forget the pin pricks, that is old method.) Respiratory Allergy Serology Test is drawing blood just like for cholesterol, etc. Painless and accurate, sent to the lab. Your IgE profile is broken down into several allergen groups and a number showing your reactance assigned based on particular levels of antibodies present to each allergen. Each allergen you produce antibodies for is a potential trigger, and the profile results can determine the most likely effective asthma medication for you with your spirometry test result. See a pulmonologist about this. I use Advair 250/50 for my particular condition. Singulair is not effective for me anymore. Codeine is not effective for bronchospasm (coughing) as an asthma symptom, due to the specific pulmonary state of asthma, different from colds, flu, infection, etc. It just doesn't work against an asthma cough. Hope this helps you get better treatment down the road.
