Guest guest
First, are they sure that your reaction was caused by the steroids and not something else like an antibiotic or other med? They give you so much in the hospital that it can be hard to identify. It is not unheard of, but it would be very unusual for it to be the steroids. Although, on high dosages I get an acne like rash and other " allergy " type symptoms I don't have an allergy. Quite the opposite. My body really likes them. LOL. As far as having a reaction after using something before, that is quite common. When you are allergic to something your body builds antibiodies to fight it. Each time you are exposed the antibiodies will increase until you have a reaction. Same thing happened to me as a child with sulfa. I had taken sulfa based antibiotics several times until I was 11 and had a very serious reaction to Bactrum (sulfa based - 's syndrome - nearly killed me). Until that point we didn't know that I was allergic to it. Had never even had a rash or hives or anything before that. Same thing happens with food allergies sometimes too.
