Guest guest
Careful with this one - laughing caused problems for me. Laughter is thought to trigger changes in breathing patterns that may have a therapeutic effect for patients with chronic lung disease. In some of the latest research at University Hospital Basel in Switzerland, doctors have been testing the idea that laughter can reduce hyperinflation in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease , which has been estimated to effect up to 900,000 people in the UK. Results show that humour therapy reduced hyperinflation in patients who have severe COPD. http://tinyurl.com/5a37rb Alana
Guest guest
Hi Alana, Anything more than a chuckle and I am almost guaranteed to have a coughing fit. My biggest 'complaint' about my asthma is that I have problems laughing and singing. Laughing is what my family does (to?) with each other. My church sings everything, no speaking. I was a chanter (we don't call it that, but that gets the idea across) and really miss doing that. Lately, I've been able to laugh a bit more and can sing some. We watched Mama Mia last nigt and I was able to get a lot of the songs out. Abba was my favorite band back in the days i taught disco dance. If that doesn't give my age away, nothing will!! Mike -- throwing away the white suite coat and geting ready to boogey!!!!!!!!
