Guest guest Posted August 9, 2008 Report Share Posted August 9, 2008 It's an inhaled Steroid from what I'm told. I only use it during flare-ups It's got 2 strengths 40 and 80. They have me on 80. Never call not knowing ignorance, there are so many medication out on the market that other's haven't heard of yet. How are you feeling tonight. I have to apologize, I read you email before taking my nap and cried, I knew in my heart you'd have to have had scaring in your lungs not to mention thickening of the walls, your lungs really took alot of damage. I hope you get into that other hospital SOON! I want you to get better and go home to your family! One puff once a day at night before bed unless she gets a cold and then it would be two puffs. My daughter gets bronchitis once a year and when she gets a bad cold she seems to get chest infections and the qvar will keep her lungs open. Guest guest Posted August 16, 2008 Report Share Posted August 16, 2008 A steroid preventer inhaler. I take Qvar 100, 2 puffs twice a day. The actual stuff in it is Beclometasone dipropionate. I was originally on a different brown inhaler also containingthis, but had problems with a slightly sore throat, plus the taste was that strong it made me cough loads, so it probably wasn't getting into my lungs properly. The nurse changed me to Qvar as itis virtually taste free. This is all I take. I have been told that when IO ahve gone for 3 months without needing my blue inhaler I can halve the dosage. Guest guest Posted August 18, 2008 Report Share Posted August 18, 2008 I'm assuming by the numbers you mean how many micrograms? If so, the destructions with mine say that you can get 50 and 100. Mine is 100, but I was told that it is double the strength of beclometasone dipropionate in other inhalers, so that 100 is actually 200 micrograms etc - when I take my Qvar it is 2 puffs, but with the old ones I'm using up it is 4. It is exatly the same medication, I just find Qvar a lot easier to take as you can't taste it. Jenn Tha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...!
