Deborah and Suzi -- hats off to you both. Very practical Moms trying to

appropriately address behavior. With my son 2.5, he has hypotonia as well as

the apraxia-- then when he does become very agitated, the therapists explain to

me that he has poor " grading " , meaning he doesn't know quite how to regulate

himself. He will want " input " -- this is when he bites his sister, or pulls her

hair. Very often, he isn't really even angry, just excited. For her, this is

offputting, and she doesn't understand. We try to intercede and squeeze him, or

do joint compressions, brushing, or even just distract him, but the reality is

that he does repeat this behavior.

Anyone that hasn't walked a mile in your shoes has no clue-- Good luck to

both your approaches -- and may we all be blessed with extra understanding.

(short story -- our 5 year old " typical " daughter used to have some truly

incredible tantrums -- (the first time, I made hubby go to ped and thought she

had west nile................) now imagine a child that understands, but can't

share fully, or sensory-wise, their socks are making them uncomfortable, etc etc

etc. the challenge to a parent in this situation is so great.

Take care
