Guest guest
I just looked up Lina's original and subsequent post on the archives, and at the same time noticed a fairly major typo - sorry! Lina said on 2 July that the recipe called for MME and on 20 August I corrected that to MMS - which is wrong! MMS is Miracle Mineral Supplement; what I used was MSM - the relative of DMSO. I certainly did not use MMS in the mix - and also, did not put the cream in the eye, only on the skin. The only thing that I may have put in the eye was the original liquid mix, which would have been CS, sea salt, and possibly Xylitol. I notice on the archives that Lina said on 5 July (before I was back on the list) that it was " MMS (Chlorine dioxide- " but this is a mistake. What my recipe on Tesa's page said was: " I poured emu oil into my ointment jar to a depth of about quarter of the jar. I topped up with Fludan guaifenesin powder to a little below the shoulder of the jar. This would give me room to stir the powder into the oil. To the resultant stiff paste I added a water/MSM/CS mixture a teaspoonful at a time, stirring well to guage the consistency of the cream. Then I added half a teaspoon of DMSO. I got the mixture to a smooth cream, not too stiff to melt into the skin, but not so sloppy it would fall off my finger onto the floor. Mix the powder in the oil so the powder is just adhering but not swamped. Add the liquid (CS, CS/DMSO, or water) just to smooth the mixture by dissolving any gritty particles. You have to fiddle about to get it to a nice consistency. It's a trial every time unless you want to do a series of small batches and see which you like best. If you put liquid first you get a different product that might combine and then crystallize later. " http://www.psha-inc.com/guai-support/sf/HomemadeTopicalGuai.htm Then I went into more detail as to the reasons I used various items. MMS did not figure anywhere in the recipe - none of us knew anything about it way back in those days, circa 2003. I see that Tesa gives MMS a mention on http://www.psha-inc.com/guai-support/sf/GuaiCyclingMarketPlace.htm#MMS but that is nothing to do with the topical recipe. I would not try MMS in this mix. Rowena Re: new to DMSO >I found a " recipe " using emu oil, DMSO, MME and CS to make a topical form of guaifenisin. If any of you have any experience or suggestions I'm listening.< Actually, we're probably listening to you;>) What is this recipe supposed to do and what is MME? And can you post the actual recipe? Guest guest
Here pharmacists would ring the MD to get the correct script if they don't already know - like Drs, pharmacists know the recommended doses etc - sometimes better than the Dr. BTW if a Dr makes a prescribing error or writes up a drug chart incorrectly it the nurse who gives the drug who gets the blame - we are meant to know as much about the drugs as the Dr - doses etc. Jane Re: Re: new to DMSO Guaifenesin DMSO CS mix recipe - TYPO alert >> I just looked up Lina's original and subsequent post on the archives, and >> at >> the same time noticed a fairly major typo - sorry! > > This is serious stuff, people. Guest guest
Is there anyway the moderator can go in and delete that post or change it to reflect the typo. If the post # can be provided it would be quite simple for the moderator to fix. This is serious but at least a retraction has been posted, without a correction to the original post it might not mean much to someone looking for answers.
