Kathy - antioxidants are extremely important. Minimally, your child should

be taking 100 iu of Vitamin E and 250 mg of Vitamin C daily. Many parents

and physicians are having their children take up to 400 iu Vitamin E and up

to 1000 mg of Vit C (take up to the point where loose stoools begin) with

wonderful results. This goes hand in hand with the theory of ridding the

body of mercury and other toxins, if you buy into that theory as causing

many of our childrens problems (speech problems, autism, hypotonia, sensory

issues, etc.). In addition, many children are deficient in the Vitamin B

category (B1,B2,B6,B12). My 5 year old son receives all of his B vitamins,

a low dosage of C and E, magnesium (helps with constipation, hearing

sensitivities, and hyperactivity), zinc (MOST of our children are deficient

in this) and many other essentials in a daily vitamin from Kirkman

Laboratories called Nu-Thera P5P (www.kirkmanlabs.com). You can also order

ProEFA from them as well (at a lower cost I might add!) as well reading up

on many supplements, minerals, and vitamins and the rationale on why they

really do help our children. They also have a free booklet (large) they

will send to you. As far as how to have you child take supplements, what

works well with us is always ordering the capsule form. Then I open all the

capsules and mix together with about 2 tsp. Of flavored applesauce. You can

mix your ProEFA liquid in here as well. The flavored applesauce masks the

taste quite well. It is also better to give your supplements at least 2-3

times daily to keep an adequate supply in the body.

Hope this helps,

Mom to Grant, 5 ( " formerly " diagnosed PDD. Still has articulation issues,

but getting better!)

Subject: question about omega-3 and vit.c and e

I was skimming Dr. Stoll's book (again, after reading it) and was reading

the

need to add Vit. C and E when taking omega-3 supplements....pg 223.. and

that

it is essential to have antioxidants in your body when taking

these...antioxidants capture free radicals which are dangerous to the

omega-3

essential fatty acids...Does anyone give their children vit c or vit e along

with a prescription vitamin from say the pediatrician??? I add in Vit. C but

usually only in the winter-when we are swamped with colds, bronchitis, ear

infections, etc, but have never given my kids Vit. E....and after all of

these questions perhaps this does not even pertain to what I give my

sons...I

give them 1-2 ProEFA daily........thanks for any feedback....Kathy
