Guest guest
My identical twins...now just 4....had approx. 8 ear infections as infants and young toddlers and were on antibiotics and then finally maintenance antibiotics for months. They finally wound up with tubes....yes, the infections stopped, but the speaking did not improve....I really never thought that their " delay " was due to the infections anyway. They were/are apraxic. I wish I had EI before 2yrs of age, but that was the time that the pediatrician thought that something was wrong.....and of course, I never even heard of the word APRAXIA.....even after being a teacher for 15 years in a small district that has many many " spec. ed " kids you'd think somewhere along the way I would have heard of it....They are doing great with the ProEFA and therapy, but still not up to the speech of a 4 year old......I hope one day that (in the hospital) parents are educated in the areas of Early Intervention after they have their baby...just like you are told how much to bottle feed your child...I think both are equally important as perhaps if I had started the twins a year earlier (at 1) I would have also known about ProEFA earlier.....they had virtually no speech success (8 months worth of EI and private therapy) until the ProEFA was started.......and my oldest-without speech probs-had his eczema clear up....when I skip a few days or more he starts again and wakes up with scratch marks all over.........I will always keep posting although I have seen success so that others will read about my successes and failures and discoveries.....anyone can e-mail me privately if I can help in any way.
