Also, look at the file extensions before you open. Somewhere I have a list of valid and suspicious extension names, but it's probably a bit out-of-date now, not entirely reliable. Guest guest Posted May 19, 2002 Report Share Posted May 19, 2002 Hope this (from mcafee.com) helps those of you who need to restore your file if you deleted it after reading the hoax: Removal Instructions: In the event that JDBGMGR.EXE was deleted erroneously, the following method may be used to restore the file from backup: -- Windows 95 Instructions -- 1) Click START - RUN 2) Type: EXTRACT /A C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS\WIN95_09.CAB JDBGMGR.EXE /L C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and hit ENTER NOTE: The location of the CAB files may vary. If this does not work for you, try using your Windows CD-ROM path (ie. D:\Win95). -- End Windows 95 Instructions -- -- Windows 98 Instructions -- Information on using the System File Checker to restore files 1) Click START - RUN, type SFC and hit ENTER 2) In the " Specify the system file you would like to restore " field, type C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\JDBGMGR.EXE and hit ENTER 3) In the RESTORE FROM field, type in the path to your WINDOWS CAB files (ie. C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS) (ie. D:\WIN98 where D is the drive letter assigned to your CD-ROM) 4) Click OK and continue with the restore function -- End Windows 98 Instructions -- -- Windows ME Instructions -- Information on using the System File Checker to restore files 1) Click START - RUN, type MSCONFIG and hit ENTER 2) Click the Extract Files button 3) In the " Specify the system file you would like to restore " field, type C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\JDBGMGR.EXE and hit ENTER 4) In the RESTORE FROM field, type in the path to your WINDOWS CAB files (ie. Guest guest Posted May 23, 2002 Report Share Posted May 23, 2002 PLEASE DISREGARD THE VIRUS WARNING. IT IS A HOAX. The JDBGMGR.exe is a microsoft program for java script. It is not a virus. Deleting it will cause your computer to work incorrectly. You can verify this by searching for the application then right clicking on it. This will show you that it is a microsoft program.
