Guest guest
You know it is really something this whole IEP process. You said they said " " he is not a severe case, you know, and doesn't warrant this much therapy! " , they told me that my daughters problems are too severe and she'll never get that much therapy. I told her I wanted one hour three times a week for speech. Well what it boils down to is this IEP is suppose to help the child make progress. If the program they designed isn't working then it needs to be changed. She was getting this year 15 minutes twice a week individual and thrity minutes of group. When we started private speech three times a week plus doubling the ProEFA we say her receptive language increase dramatically and she is imitating sounds. I wanted to look into vision therapy and they are telling me it isn't a proven technique. None of this really seems to be proven. It is very frustrating, I am so glad I am dealing with this in a time when we can communicate with others experienceing similar challenges. Good Luck. Deirdre [ ] IEP MEETINGS > Well!! It certainly makes me feel a little less lonely to hear about other people getting all these absurd comments from people on the IEP team ......the team that is supposed to be planning an appropriate education for your INDIVIDUAL child!
