Kindergarten, horseback riding and memory

My struggle is I plan to homeschool. Well that makes us not eligible for speech

services for my son who has severe verbal dyspraxia and sensory issue and a

problem with memory. But he will turn 5 on August 10 a few days before school

starts. Even if I was not homeschooling I would not send him to kindergarten. He

is way to young. The last thing I want to do is put him in a class with a bunch

of 6 and 7 year olds. But this is the kicker you can hold your child out of

kindergarten until they are 6 they do not have to be in school until the school

year that they are 6 by

sept 1. But in order to receive special services you have to enroll them as

soon as they are eligible for school. I'm sorry but that is crazy. I plan to

fight this even if I find another source for his therapy. Also has anyone put

there child in therapy horseback riding. My son started at 2 took a short break

over the last few months due to finances (another one of those crazy things we

applied for financial aid after paying for classes for 2 years and we did not

qualify) but they say no one is ever turned away for not being able to pay.

anyways one of the volunteers where he use to ride is from the generosity of her

heart letting ride once a week at her house. Anyways after 20 minutes on

the horse he can say " Maybelline " as easy as he says mom. But 20 minutes off the

horse forget it. He has also taken swimming and Tae Kwon Do but neither of these

have had the same effect.

One more thing do any of you have apraxic children with memory problems.

can not remember his abc's count to 10 shapes colors etc, ask him what he did

today and he may or may not remember. He call his cousin Beth the daughter of

his favorite aunt, " that girl who comes over with my aunt linnie sometimes. " He

has a real hard time with names he has to see you a couple of times a week to

remember your name. Its crazy but something's he remembers for ever. Usually

things he remembers are action things like walking to the lake or fishing or

going out with his dad in the boat etc. If you go in the woods behind our house

there is a half built castle like maybe for a park or something not big but

neat. When we first moved here he went for a walk with his dad and they found

it. Told me about it and I forgot about it a few months later he says remember

when dad and I went on the walk to the lake and saw the castle. Well I'm

thinking where the heck were you that you say a castle he says remember its by

our house. then I remember. But he can not remember his friends name or if he

ate breakfast today. Strange not even sure where to start researching this one.
