Guest guest
RE Drinking....Look at it this way...your liver is already compromised. It is not able to do it's job properly and is slowly getting worse. Now...add alcohol or un-necessary meds..pain meds. Anything that is not prescribed by your doctor....and you are asking your liver to do something it isn't able to do well...detox. All alcohol..as all other things you put in your mouth..have to be processed by the liver. So.if you want to keep it as well as possible and try to live longer without the need for a Tx then no alcohol is the best road and the safest for all. I haven' t had a drink .not even a sip since I was diagnosed in 1982. I also do not take Advil or other over the counter meds unless told to by my doctor. Tylenol.my doctors say it is opk to take one or two if needed a lot..but, only occassionally...such as once a month. Hence I don't take them. I have probably had 5 Tylenol's in the past couple years.always saving them for the day I may need them more. This excerpt should help explain this... >> Cirrhosis, especially in advanced cases, can cause profound abnormalities in the brain. In cirrhosis, some blood leaving the gut bypasses the liver as blood flow through the liver is decreased. Metabolism of components absorbed in the gut can also be decreased as liver cell function deteriorates. Both of these derangements can lead to hepatic encephalopathy as toxic metabolites, normally removed from the blood by the liver, can reach the brain. In its early stages, subtle mental changes such as poor concentration or the inability to construct simple objects occurs. In severe cases, hepatic encephalopathy can lead to stupor, coma, brain swelling and death. Cirrhosis of the liver can also cause abnormalities in other organ <A HREF= " http://cpmcnet.columbia.edu/dept/gi/cirrhosis.html " >Cirrhosis</A> http://cpmcnet.columbia.edu/dept/gi/cirrhosis.html

Guest guest
Hi Amy, I asked my doc that same question. He told me an alcoholic drink every once in a while won't hurt. But, don't overdo. )
Guest guest
Hi Lori...I actually meant anything. Tho I have had JRA for 31 years I have never experienced this and it was quite frightening. When I went to the ER I was treated for possible heart attack! I truly thought I was leaving this earth and my kids. I was too scared but later learned I was sufering costochondritis. You can have this with or without arthritis but seems I was more susceptible because of the arthritis. I will be learning more as this a new member of the ITIS clan I have to deal with. Steroids are back on my platter as well and they have helped tremendously. I think I am just looking for reassurance that I am not the only one who manages to get these foreign sounding dx's...lol Thanks for sharing and to all I sned hugs and wishes for happy days! When my hands are really hurting or very dry. It helps both. I did find that it is a major pain to keep it in a closet and take it out each time, so it has a permanent place in my pantry where I use it. I don't bother with the gloves and bags anymore (I found it hard to manipulate), I just keep dipping and layering for about 5 minutes, then peel it off and let it remelt. You just have to be very careful to start with very clean hands/feet if you reuse the parafin. I have never done my feet, but mine is big enough to accomodate feet. from Wisconsin
Guest guest
Suggestion: If there is an article that you find that might interest the group, could you please just post the link instead of posting the whole article? I am usually interested in most articles posted here, but like to read through everyone's emails first & then read articles when I have a good block of time. It's easy to go back through & click on the links when I am ready to read the articles. The thing about the water was posted sooooooooo many times, probably because of some kind of glitch or bug, but if just the link had been posted, it would have cut down on the amount of space that was used. thanks! Hope Peace Joy Love ~michelle~ __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Hello Guys, I have not posted for quite a while... I just saw Sid on here... Hi LITTERMATE! How is everybody doing.... I feel great....although I think I might need a revision.... I had my surgery 12/1/00 and I did lose 150 lbs... but still at 200lbs. I am JUST now recovering from a breast reduction... Have been trying since January to get a tummy tuck approved but blue cross says no way...... I had the breast reduction done in Cary, NC... by a wonderful dr... although I had a bleed the next day and the nurse just told me I needed to EXPECT pain since I just had surgery.... I had to page the dr. via his office, and he was in the OR and tell him something was wrong.. he sent the anthesiologist up to see me and took vitals and when my bp was 67/50 they knew something was wrong... it took all day to get an OR to get me back in ... until 930pm.... but he did and fixed the bleed and I do CERTAINLY HAVE A LOAD OFF MY SHOULDERS NOW.... It does hurt worse than Dr. R's surgery... but this too shall pass... Before my bypass I was a 56F... after the weight loss 46DD... and now am a 44C but back up where I belong... Definitely would recommend it to anyone.... Hello all you littermates out there.. and hope you are doing great SID.... !! Joyce MGB 12/1/00 350/200 PS. as far as ECU at Pit Memorial... I went there for 7 months for preop testing for the gastric banding... when I finally went for my surgery date the DR. told me I was NOT going to have their surgery since I had ulcers and acid reflux.... WHY did they keep me coming for 7 months.... having to drive from Raleigh down there... when they knew they were not going to do it.... Well... I thank GOD everyday for Dr. R.... I had even gone to Dr. Fobi in California.... I do have my life back..... I could not walk before...... hardly.... and now... it's wonderful... thanks again Dr. R... ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 1 Date: Mon, 16 Sep 2002 07:29:45 -0700 (PDT) From: sid sutherland <sidsutherland2002@...> Subject: Charlotte Observer article Hello MGBers, Article in the Charlotte Observer this morning..(Monday) re: Gastric Bypass. As far as I can see there are no noticable side effects. > Thank you for your help > Harold Harold, When your red count is low, you need to do something. In the past, before drugs like Procrit, the standard treatment was getting transfusions. Now, there is the option of getting things like Procrit. It helps your body produce more red cells, rather than just replace them. It is commonly given during chemo, when the hemoglobin and hematocrit are low. It will help with fatigue and shortness of breath. Barbara

Guest guest
When your oil hardens, get hot water at no more than 80 degrees F from your kitchen faucet. Let your jar sit on this hot water and you will see it melt. No need to expose the oil to higher temperatures. It can get " de-virginized " . Traditional method/process should not use heat more than 80 deg F to classify its oil as virgin. This according to Philippine Standard of VCO. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Cheap talk?
