Guest guest
Just my layman's opinion here but seems to me the swelling should have gone down within days and I worry you may have an infection in there from when they put in the plates and screws. Have you said anything to the doctor about it still being swollen? If you get a fever, run to the emergency room (well, have someone drive you), it could be serious! > > Swelling from my broken leg is not going down in the upper foot area after > almost three weeks of mostly bed rest and the aforementioned supplements. Guest guest
I have never seen any warnings about DMSO and metals. Several years ago, I used comfrey for my dog’s broken leg. As often happens with pets, he broke his leg at a holiday time, with no vet to be found. I took comfrey leaves from the garden, and after my husband and I set the leg to the best of our ability, I bound his leg in comfrey leaves. I was absolutely astonished at how well it healed….literally as good as new. By the time we could access a vet, there was nothing for the vet to do that had not already been done. It is an amazing bone healing plant. Guest guest
It must be going around. I broke my ankle night before last. I am using DMSO and aloe vera on the swelling. Guest guest
Hi, I have discovered the painful way that if I don't apply DMSO within seconds of the injury, before the inflammation hits, it will not do total control, or less than it could. I carry DMSO gel in my car that looks like roll on deodorant. I found the need to use it on my sister's hand the other night. No bruise, no pain, no stiffness. Guest guest
Doubtful it is infected rather I think it is dead or dying from the swelling cutting off the blood supply. Pain is increasing and also some redness. I got a staff infection at two of the blood draw sites and was put on Bactrum, SMZ-TMP, for one week that cleared that up and have one more day left. I am not an ER type of person and things will have to get much worse before I see a traditional Dr. Have an appointment with my chiro Sat. Have ordered more CS, stupidly ran out a few weeks ago or would have used that on the staff infection. Strange thing the areas that are plated are fine, little pain and little swelling, its just the top of my foot all the way to my toes. It has always been dead feeling, assumed from nerve damage and swelling pressing on the nerves. I will start MMS if things seem worse in the AM, certainly cant hurt. Thanks for your insights. I really appreciate not dealing with this alone and Hubby I am sure is tired of me talking about it. Havent seen the Dr in 10 days. Cancelled my appointment for Mon due to finances and resceduled for after Jan 1st. May not make it til then, dunno. Guest guest
If you think it's dead tissue, maybe some protease enzymes and other would help. The body has a limited ability to make enzymes and they can get used up while there is still a need for more, even under the best circumstances. Vitamin C helps the body make more enzymes and keeps the enzymes active for longer. It has many roles in healing from an injury. " Vitamin C is vital to the immune system, aiding white blood cells that attack and destroy cancer cells, viruses, bacteria, parasites and other pathogens. Vitamin C also promotes wound healing and acts to control the release of histamine. Vitamin C is used by the body to produce collagen, used by connective tissues to give strength and shape to our tissues, such as muscles, blood vessels, bones and teeth. " from http://intelegen.com/ImmuneSystem/vitamin_c.htm Wobenzyme is a good product that is sometimes available in health food stores; Vitalzyme is another good one that eats certain types of scar tissue to help tissue repair itself better. The best protease (protein-dissolving) supplement I've found is Dr. Houston's Peptizyde. I've never heard of it being used for healing but it completely breaks down proteins. It was made to do so in the stomach to prevent food sensitivities to protein chains from partially digested food getting into the blood if a person has leaky gut, but I've heard from several sources that if taken on an empty stomach it will go into the blood and break down any dead proteins it encounters. Best wishes. Isn't it 's Law that if something is going to happen to someone it happens at the worst possible time? > > > > > > Swelling from my broken leg is not going down in the upper foot > > area after > > > almost three weeks of mostly bed rest and the aforementioned > > supplements. Guest guest
comfrey is called bone-knitter herb. You can take it by mouth. It is also relaxing. Homeopathic arnica helped when I broke my foot. BJ RE: Dmso and plates and screws Filaluvraol wrote:> > Kathy, have you considered trying a compress of comfrey?
