Guest guest
Just saw that on the show 48 hours tonight it is on oxycontin - seems there was a lot of talk about this medication in the group recently. Just wanted to let you know. Kathe in CA __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I found the show to be one sided. It will scare away more Drs. into prescribing this drug. I take oxycontin and it has given me my life back. I find it hard to feel sorry for the addicts. If it wasn't oxy it would be something else. I have known many addicts. I don't know what I will do if they get rid of this drug. This country has a dire problem of not treating pain. We are terrified of narcotics. If you are truly in pain narcotics give you absolutely no high. I feel nothing on oxy, just the ability to get out of bed. I was completely bed ridden before I found a Dr. willing to treat my chronic pain. I still can't do anything strenuous but I have a life. My husband and I found portions of the show to be biased. He has seen what it has done for me. He has also seen me in agony. Having to help me bathe and even walk. I hope everyone who suffers from severe chronic pain will write the producers of 48 hours and express your concerns and feelings on oxycontin. Thanks, just needed to vent. Guest guest
I saw the end of this program. There were a lot of different points of view. The bottom line, in my opinion, is that every person reacts differently to any medication and the people who abuse these meds make it harder for the people who really need them for legitimate pain. I am sure that many more people have been helped by this med, but you only hear about the problems. I live in PA and it is next to impossible for anyone to get their hands on oxycontin. I have heard, though, that the company that makes it is trying to formulate it into a time release pill so that it would be harder to overdose on it.
