Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have been in a lot of pain today. This is something that hasn't happened in several months but today and 3 other times this week I have had re-occurrences of this really strange pain. It comes on very suddenly, shooting, cramping and throbbing in my lower back down to the tailbone. It feels like it is blood rushing inside my spinal column and when I touch it I can feel my pulse throbbing there. It makes me feel as though I have to go to the bathroom very badly to make the pain go away but I don't need to. A shift in position doesn't help. It is very gripping but fortunately it usually lasts under 10 minutes. The only pain that stays afterwards is the typical lower back pain with a catch at my waist. Have anyone of you ever heard of this. Could this be a result of having epidurals? I would appreciate any information you may have. This is why the dr wanted a bone scan to study my tailbone. He didn't give me any preliminary information on what he thought. I have also had to schedule another appt with my ortho as the hylagan shots are not working. Usually my knee only hurts when I stand or walk to much but this week it is very painful and even hurting when I lay down or sit. I think it is time to schedule exploratory surgery even though we know that there is a meniscus tear and worn through cartilage. It might be best to have this taken care of while I am unemployed. At least these problems are going on at the same time instead of spreading themselves out. Thanks for listening. Guest guest
Hi Iris, How are you feeling today. I hope that the pain is not as bad. When I went to the neuro about my back pain, he kept asking me if my bowel or bladder habits had changed since I had the pain. He said that it could indicate a pinching of a nerve or spinal column from the herniated disc. I think that you should call your dr. and tell him/her about this new symptom and see what they could tell you about it. I will be thinking/worrying about you. Let me know how it turns out. Guest guest
Hi Stacey...I wrote you before I got to this email. Thank you for your concern. It really means a lot to me. The pain continued all through last night. I couldn't sit up at all so I just lay in the bed all day. I have an appt with Rheumy on Tues. and I will tell him how bad this problem flared up. I have done some reading today on Lumbo-Sacral Arachnoiditis which can be the result of a Myelogram or Epidural. The Myelogram was the worst test I have ever had! It caused a Instantaineous parlyasis and cramping in my legs which lasted for about 5 minutes. I have also had at least 10 epidurals. I am now reading about DepoMedrol not being recommended for injection in the subarachnoid space due to neurotoxicity. This reading I did also provided information about encroachment upon the thecal sac or nerve roots by herniated discs. I must tell you that reading this stuff is scary but some of it has a ring of truth as far as my symptoms go. I will let you know what the dr says on Tuesday. Hugs to you.
