Dear Arvind,

I was pleasantly surprised, or should I say astonished.... no, no, ...

change that to flabbergasted, when I read that Pingua has become IG of

Police. During our hostel days, he was the most docile of all creatures, and

if there was one person who could never be in the in the police, you could

have betted on Pingua.

With a surname like Pingua, you start life on the wrong foot. Everyone keeps

asking you to repeat the surname, to make sure that they have got it right.

A name of Dhananjay did not help matters much. Plus he was born and brought

up in the hinterlands of backward Bihar. He was a tribal to boot, so I am

sure he faced a lot of complexes when confronted by such city slickers like

you and I. When he was suddenly plucked from the rural Bihari school and

plonked in the midst of fluent English speakers and stylish guys of MGIMS,

he must have been utterly confused and disoriented. Yet, to rise above all

those issues and bag the plum post of IG police is definitely a GREAT

achievement.

That shows that you can never judge a person easily. In contrast, there was

one flamboyant personality from our senior batch, who you could see would go

to high places. Well, he did manage a stint in jail, and is now rotting in a

mediocre job.

All the best to your son. May he emulate his parents' success story, or even

supersede it.

Pradeep Joshi's son has cleared his 12th and has already been selected by

Pravara Medical College. However, he is waiting for the CET results to

improve his choice.

We got all updates regarding you and Poona folks from Mukta.Some of our

batch mates like Beena have really disappeared from scene any news

about her.Pingua is IG police in CRPF thats what makes him unique .he met

suneela in one of the medical officers trainings of Ministry of home

affairs which suneela is coordinating.
