May I suggest that as many people, who really do have M.E. as opposed to the

Plumbago Oscillitis (swinging the lead) that this guy - whose last job was

probably blackboard duster monitor - has write to dissociate themselves from

the likes of him (link to story below my signature).

*Wolverhampton Express and Star Letters*.

There are a couple of things that worry me when reading about Miles (

*Eyes down for a full house, Wolverhampton Express and Star, 24 May 2008*),

who appears to be a bone idle, freeloading, chancer, with the cheek of the

devil, asking for sponsorship to play poker.

The first is that he claims to have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which is

unlikely when you read of his current lifestyle and ambition to jet off to

some US poker game.

Secondly, although Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is not the same thing at all as

M.E. (*Myalgic Encephalomyelitis*), it has regrettably become as

inextricably associated with it as the dreaded " Yuppie flu " (another myth

that we could have well done without) and, because M.E. is largely

invisible, it does tend to get written off as laziness and we shall not be

rid of these suspicions until properly funded biomedical research brings us

a definitive diagnostic test for M.E.

I doubt that many people would want an association with Miles but

M.E. sufferers certainly don't need one and would probably be pleased to

deal him a straight flush.

Yours sincerely

Eyes down for a full house

Wolverhampton Express and Star, 24 May 2008

Miles, a full-time poker player from Wolverhampton, is appealing for

sponsorship as he bids to make a living from online gambling.

(41) says: " I have been out of work since I was around 26, I suffer

from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and around three years ago I was on the

internet and discovered poker.

A full-time poker player from Wolverhampton is appealing for sponsorship as

he bids to make a proper living from online gambling.

Miles, aged 41, from Park Village, has been playing the game for the

last three years and wants to pay for expert tuition from a US-based

professional ranked as one of the world's best.

Mr Miles, who has been jobless for about the last 15 years, says he has not

made a penny out of his poker playing, but wants to turn it into a living.

He said: " I have been out of work since I was around 26, I suffer from

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and around three years ago I was on the internet

and discovered poker.

" In that time I haven't made any money but I've got to the stage where I

have become quite a good player and want to take it to the next level. I

have been offered help from someone ranked about the 400th best in the

world, who is based in the USA, but need sponsorship to pay for it.

" I am constantly trying to make ends meet, I have never had a car and even

try and avoid using buses to get by. If I can get some sponsorship together

I'd be very happy. "
