Hi Iris,

I feel really helpless as far as Deb's concerned, too. I would love to be

able to do more for her. When I told her that, she said we're doing the

most important thing already, praying.

She's getting a catheter tomorrow. They're doing surgery to put it in, and

they're also going to put in a feeding tube. Deb told me that because of

the GI problems she was having (unable to keep food down, loose stool) the

ortho thought he'd give the antibiotics a rest. He was really apologetic,

and in hindsight it was certainly the wrong decision. When she called him

back that afternoon, he told her to go to the ER. I'm just glad she got

there and is getting the care she needs now. She's got 3 or 4 Dr.'s on her

treatment " team " so hopefully combined they will get her over this quickly.

She said they plan to have her on antibiotics for 6 weeks.

I'll let Deb know that you're praying for her when I call tomorrow.

Love and hugs,

Carol

Re: [ ] Debs

Dear Carol...I was afraid that things were not yet

turning around for Debs. I did a lot of reading about

sepsis and it said that sometimes there had to be a

new knee replacement to facilitate healing and that iv

antibiotics were required for a minimum of 4 weeks.

Did she get a hickman catherter?

It doesn't sound as though this is going to be a quick

recovery.

I think her dr had a few loose screws suggesting that

she go a whole weekend without antibiotics and to just

see him on Monday. She is blessed that she was

listening to her angels (real ones and RA SUPPORT

ones) and went ahead to the ER regardless of what that

dr said (if that is the term I should even use when

talking about him).

I am going to ask God to send reinforcement angels to

make her circle of strength larger.

Thank you for the updates. I feel so helpless and

wish I could help. Hugs to all. Iris
