Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, Thank you for posting this link to the " dirty dozen " list! That site has a lot of other helpful info. I found a reference there that I looked up - it's a government report from a committee on life sciences (or some committee from the Nat'l academy of Sciences I think). It was a study on the effects of pesticides on infants and children. It admits that the current pesticide guidelines DO not take infants and children into account and that infants/children's bodies handle pesticides in a different manner than adults. I haven't read the whole report (almost 400 pages) but the executive summary provides a tremendous amount of info. I put a quote below. Here's the report if anyone is interested: http://www.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=2126 & page=1 Glad that the IRS audit turned out o.k. - just what you need on top of everything else going on! best, " To ensure that infants and children are not exposed to unsafe levels of pesticide residues, the committee recommends that EPA modify its decision-making process for setting tolerances so that it is based more on health considerations than on agricultural practices. These changes should incorporate the use of improved estimates of exposure and more relevant toxicology, along with continued consideration of the requirements of agricultural production. As a result, human health considerations would be more fully reflected in tolerance levels. Children should be able to eat a healthful diet containing legal residues without encroaching on safety margins. Guest guest
And Mom and Dad are spraying inside and outside, on the lawn and everywhere possible, make sure you don't use flame retardant jammies, they are sprayed with chemicals that soak into their skin all night long.............. People don't yet understand the dangers of spraying their lawns, inside their houses for bugs etc. It's all there if you read the material........... good articlelittlelief wrote: Hi Bonnie,Thank you for posting this link to the "dirty dozen" list! Guest guest
Talk about chemicals/toxins out there - check this out: http://www.storyofstuff.com It was posted at a local freecycle board and it is very thought provoking. > > > > > > > > > > > > We went to see a new chiropractor...haven't been to our old one for > > > > > a while > > > > > > because of insurance changes...and he was very thrilled with > > > everything > > > > > > we've been doing. Guest guest
Most think it is safe! When I stopped having our house sprayed(inside and out) most thought I was overreacting. The bug man would just come in with his spray tank, whip it around, spray all the edges no matter what was laying there...uugh, I would cringe, went against my every being, especially with my youngest crawling around on the floor. I finally stood my ground with family and told them we well live with a spider here and there, but not with the bug spray!! I well occaissionally reflect when I was pregnant with my youngest(lots of medical) and working in a flower shop! I used to cut/prep a lot of flowers. Pesticides, a disabled child, I did lots of googling on the stuff and just wanted to cry when I learned what pesticides does to the unborn fetus!! I have wondered sometimes if this is what caused my sons birth defect? I am mostly sure it was from a severe flu type illness during my first trimester. I had never been that ill in my life. Most likely interfered with the developement of him while in the wound. Most in a group I belong to for my sons condition had the same thing happen(severe illness), but I do still wonder about the direct contact with pesticides!! TOXINS/CHEMICALS!! To think some are getting rich at the expense of our lives!! Guest guest
, If you look up the MSDS for the chemicals they spray for bugs in your house, you will find it's all there........also, you're right about the flower shop, they are highly sprayed, grocerie stores are loaded, restauraunts, anywhere there's food. This is why so many people have a wheat allergy, it's what they spray on it in the warehouses to keep the bugs away................ Jennie wrote: Most think it is safe! Guest guest
What about at school?? I see the stupid bug people over there on a Sunday afternoon (sorry about the "stupid" part, but really...) spraying. Then, the kids go to school on Monday morning. Yeah, yeah, they say all the chemicals are dry, yada yada, but I really don't think so. My kids come home with red arms and headaches EVERY time they spray. You'd think they could do it on a Friday night or Saturday morning!! I could ask them to change, but would they for just one family? Or how about NO spraying...it's a schoolyard for Pete's sake...no garden awards going out there! Re: insight from our visit to the chiropractor Most think it is safe! When I stopped having our house sprayed(inside and out) most thought I was overreacting. Guest guest
Look into your rights, you have a right to keep them home on the times they spray, you have to document it, I'd do it with a physician, and state it is making your child sick. There are things you can do to change this. Carl and Tracie Happel wrote: What about at school?? The bug man would just come in with his spray tank, whip it around, spray all the edges no matter what was laying there...uugh, I would cringe, went against my every being, especially with my youngest crawling around on the floor. Guest guest
Hmmm...didn'tknow this. Will have to look into this. Especially for Mr. Sensitivity who has 2 more years left at the school. Thanks!! Re: insight from our visit to the chiropractor Most think it is safe! When I stopped having our house sprayed(inside and out) most thought I was overreacting.
