Don't know if it would be the xylitol...?? Maybe a reaction to one of the

probiotics

themselves?

Xlitol is a plant-derived sugar. our new doc (the more holistic one)

recommended I use it

for baking treats for my DS as we eliminate as much regular ( " table " ) sugar as

possible

from his diet.

You can buy it at a HFS, it's rather expensive. Interestingly, on the label it

says it does not

alter blood sugar levels like 'table' sugar and that it can have a laxative

effect if taken in

large quantities. (Marg, if you're reading, this might be an option for you to

ask your

doctor about?)

Overall, my impression is that it is a safe alternative to sugar. My DH uses in

his coffee

and I've baked a little with it. Even used it in a cucumber salad to sweeten

the vinegar

dressing instead of sugar.
