Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I just got done talking to Deb, and there's mixed news. First off, she sounded much better than yesterday. Much, much better. She said her white blood count is slightly lower. The bad news is that the cultures of the knee indicate that they'll probably have to do another TKR in order to eliminate the infection. The thought of that right now is a lot for her to bear. She's been through so much, and major surgery plus rehab is a lot to consider. On the other hand, she doesn't want to go home and have the infection spiral out of control. She said she'll know more tomorrow. I'm so happy that she sounded better. She appreciated all the personal messages, and was deeply touched by everyone's love and concern. I could tell it meant a great deal to her. She said if anyone wants to call, she has the phone right there and is able to handle short conversations. The contact info is: Deb Holub West Boca Medical Center 561-488-8000 room 307 bed 1 I hope everyone is having a good evening! Love, Carol
Guest guest
Thank goodness. This is wonderful news. I will keep praying for Debs to make a complete recovery. Hopefully they will be able to save the TKR. Sounds like they are finally taking her seriously. I would like to know who finally hit the dr. on the head with the hammer? Prayers and Hugs Stacey in PA

Guest guest
a, I’m so glad to hear that!!! It looks like our prayers are being heard. I’m going to give her a call after 8PM tonight, because it’s free. Are we all going to pray at 9PM? Love, Carol [ ] Update on Deb Hi everyone. I just talked to Debs and things are looking up. Her white blood count is finally down to 8,000, which is normal. So normal in fact, the representative from the insurance company tried to have her discharged!!! You¹ll be happy to know he was fired! Tomorrow they are going to wash her knee out again, this time with an infectious disease specialist assisting. They are going to continue this and try to save the knee replacement. If it appears not to be working, they will remove the TKR. They will not replace it until they are sure the infection is cleared up. Debs is very positive and feels like she is almost ready to turn the corner. She thanks everyone for their continued prayers. They are being heard!!! Hugs, a

Guest guest
Yes, that was a scary time for us. The main concern with my daughter was the doctors were afraid the infection would move onto her other joint replacements.....2 hips and other knee. Thank God that it didn't! She did eventually lose a hip to infection but the doctors were on top of it as soon as the very first symptoms appeared and she was not sick like the first time. Every time she runs a temp over 101 we have to be sure that it isn't an infection. All of my daughters orthopaedic surgeons are leaving the hospital where Esther is seen. I don't know what to do now. We found out that their new practices will not accept her insurance which is really Medicaid with an HMO. She can't just go to any orthopaedic doctor.....we need them to be specialized a, you have any recommendations as you live kind of in our area? Just let me know if you all do decide to send flowers. Thanks Carol for keeping us informed about Debs. Still praying for her . Gentle Hugs, Carol Re: [ ] Update on Deb Hi Carol: Thanks for the update on Deb - glad she is sounding better and hopefully feeling a little better too. The idea of another TRR must be frightening after all that she has been through, but she needs to get that infection under control so ... She may not have much choice with that one if she wants the infection gone. Would that be something that they would do fairly soon? Hopefully she would get some rest time between her most recent knee surgery with all its attendant complications and another one - her body needs a break. Please let her know I am thinking about her Kathe in CA __________________________________________________
