Guest guest
, I have helped wean a few from Benzo's like clonopin by using GABA, which works the same pathway via allopregnenolone, I believe. Not sure about ambien. I also use plant based melatonin by Natural Health Int'l (the same guys athat make Femenesence) at 0.3mg per dose. No side effects and really helps. SOurce natural makes a great blend of all and more with high does valarian called Night Rest which is good. Insomniacs almost always need more though, and he sounds like a classic exmaple of _________, (insert homeopathic with those keynotes that I forgot:) Brad West ND Bay Areas > > Hello- I am working with a 69 yo male who has been on Ambien for almost 10 years. (Sleep became an issue for him following the break- up of a long term romantic relationship). The medication will allow him to get 3-4 hours of undisturbed sleep a night. He takes a low dose at bed time and believes he is psychologically dependent on it. He also describes ritualistic checking behavior before bed due to fear of break-ins (he lives alone) and states that the Ambien is part of his ritual. He is mildly anxious and dissatisfied with his life. He wants to do something to help others but feels unworthy, like people will discover he's not a good person. He also worries that if he were to volunteer, his poor sleep may interfere with his ability to fulfill his responsibility. > Has anybody out there successfully weaned somebody off of this med? It seems like GABA would be useful here...any help would be appreciated. > N.D. > N.field, RI > 401*597*0477 >
