Guest guest
Be careful with the low / no carb diets - they are actually v bad for your health in the long run. There have been a few highlighted cases here of people dying from staying on no carbs diets for too long. As a student, I ahve to eat plenty of carbs as here in the UK, they are amongst the cheapest food (a big bag of pasta will last for months and costs just a few £), and keep you full for longer. My best advise for you to help control the sugars is to try and follow a low carb diet, which I am sure you are doing and as soon as you can try to move around a bit. My husband has diabetes, so when we eat pasta we eat Dreamfields pasta. (www.dreamfieldfoods .com) and if we make taco's I buy Mission carb balance shells (they are with the rest of the taco stuff, and only 7 carbs per shell!) and for bread I buy friehofers wheat bread because for two slices it is only about 20 carbs. If you want even less carbs buy lite bread, lite bread is only 13 carbs for two slices and is low calorie. Beer has a lot of carbs, but my husband drinks Michelob lite (only 2 carbs), I don't know what if any affects beer have on your kidneys. Eat lots of veggies and protein! That is our diet in a nut shell. If you have ANY questions about blood sugar and diet for controlling it, I will be happy to help. I have learned a lot over the past year since he was diagnosed. I don't know much about the blood pressure, but I am sure that will get better when they do stop the prednisone. Good luck to you Madeline and I hope you continue to get better!! Guest guest
I know your body needs carbs everyday but i also need my blood sugar to stay in a healthy range. I do watch them and usually eat about 50 per meal and 15-20 if i eat a snack. i ONLY go no carb when im on prednisone or my BS will spike where im dizzy and sick. IO have talked this over with my dr and they are in agreement with my diet.
