Guest guest
Although the main article is not recent, I can't remember to have read it before. The comment by Susie K, below the first article, speaks volumes about the results, which have been gained concerning *CFS/ Unwellness* (identified in Britain 3 decades earlier, called ME) with the millions of dollars spent since 1988 till 2008 by the CDC and the Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome Association of America. ~jvr ```````` http://tothecenter.com/news.php?readmore=5157 To The Center The Yuppie Flu No Longer, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Is a Real Illness Once overlooked as a minor setback often dubbed the " yuppie flu " or the " shirker syndrome, " chronic fatigue syndrome has now gained recognition as a real and official illness. For years, people suffering from the illness have had their symptoms ignored; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention admitted that it redirected money sent by Congress for chronic fatigue syndrome research for other programs instead. First identified in the 1980s, chronic fatigue syndrome is characterized by extreme exhaustion. The NY Times quoted a female patient describing her fatigue to prolong even after 12-14 hours of sleep. Impaired memory, poor memory, muscle pain, joint pain, headaches, and variable sleeping patterns comprise only a few of the many symptoms. Conducted studies have linked a connection between the syndrome and genetic mutations. The illness afflicts more women than men and surveys have shown that the illness is prevalent among more than a million Americans. While some medications provide temporary relief from symptoms, there is yet to be an approved treatment or cure. Only a matter of time before chronic fatigue syndrome starts to become a plausible reason for workers to take off on medical leave... yikes. ``````````````` http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/17/science/17fatigue.html New York Times Frontline Report Chronic Fatigue No Longer Seen as 'Yuppie Flu' By DAVID TULLER Published: July 17, 2007 Correction Appended
