Louise I am with you! Kathy... you certainly outdid yourself on this

one! SO SO TRUE!!! To this day, I still do " The Stance " ... only here

down south, we called it " The Hover " ! And with arthritic knees &

hips... it is getting harder and harder. Though, because of the

upbringing " issue " on " what lurks on toilet seats " ...I may one day not

be able to WALK because of my knees & hips, but by golly, I bet you

anything...I will still be " Hovering " the toilet seat!

By the way.... If you have no buttered napkins to use or Chicklet

wrappers... I have used Grocery store receipts and Wal Mart receipts!

Wal Mart receipts are the best... they are always generally longer!

I can really relate to this.......I always remember having to pay for aclean

toilet on the NYstate thruway....my mother would pay once and all of us

girls(4+ my mom) would hold the door for the next one .....we got our money's

worth.....they always had a cleaning lady standing outside who would go in

and clean it usually in between customers.

And remember potty training your kids ? and if they had to go while out in

public? And mine used to want to go every time they saw a bathroom in the

beginning ...just to sit on the big toilet.....and then my daughter (she's 21

now) want camping with girl scouts one time (she was 8 or 9 then) and they

had to use an outhouse.....she has never gone camping again.....that girl can

really hold it even now....if she goes into a public rest room and it smells

funny or whatever ...

And then there is me ....I take diuretics for BP and for the first few hours

after I am in there constantly....When I went to see the movie " The Storm " I

swear I was in the bathroom 3 -4 times from all the water in the movie.I also

use the handicapped stall most times while out cos the seat is higher and

usually cleaner .

This was really funny ......Judy in AZ

Until I got booster seats for my toilets and before my hip replacement, I

always had to do " The Stance " and then change my pants after!

Hey, I am fine here .thanks for asking Kathi......I have been keeping busy

with school started on Aug19th and my son has been back with me 24/7 since

May22.NO child support since June 25th.......been working on that.

Tess, I have clinical depression, been on meds for yrs ....I still get those

" dark " periods ...I can usually work through those eventually but sometimes I

just need to talk.....I go to a therapist every couple of weeks ever since

last yr...I have told the Behaviorial Health people for yrs a lot of my

depression is very cyclic....and hormonal....and now they actually recognize

that. I just try to pamper myself when I am " down " .I'm not saying it always

works but.....

I have been talking to Deb at least once a day.......I still have not

recovered totally (mentally)from last yr . For those who dont know I had a

ventral hernia repaired 3/5/01 and 9 mon, 4 surgeries,

20drains?,peritonitis,flushings, pic line, so many CTs I can still read in

the dark w/o light, and finally removal of mesh on Oct29/01 and healed by

Thanksgiving (still have no feelings in my abdominal area.)..She has it much

worse than I did...but I can relate....

Anyway, I am still in the remicade study......I dont think I am getting the

real thing or I am getting the 3mg and for my weight this is not enough to do

anything. I will know by the week 22 though cos then everyone gets real

thing.....my ins will pay for remicade and my Rd asked me if I wanted to go

on it instead of the study.I told him I would rather do it this way and try

it ...and save it as a last resort as I dont feel that bad that often with

what I am on......but I will say this is I start to get any little

interesting side effects(sepsis, pleurisy, lupus, etc) I am out of that

study!!!!!

Oh yea, had the 5 shots series for my left knee..supartz...my knee was

feeling better by 3rd shot I can now kneel on my knee to get up and down off

the floor and take a bath in the tub and get out

afterwards........however...it has been a month since last one(injection) and

my knee is hurting again for a couple weeks now on the inside of joint

....and I know there is bursitis in there too......called ortho.he wants me to

try and wait another 4-6 weeks....and try to control all this with

lodine, ice, and darvocets.....it has its good moments....

Oh yes, here is my stupid thing I did yesterday....first of all it was 110

out there and it was 4 pm ..my gf wanted me to go test drive some cars with

her ....she wants a new one....Now in my mind I was thinking we go to car

place...go into showroom, get a salesman, pick out something and we would

take a golf cart out to car to test drive......or the slaesman would bring it

up to bldg with ac going ....NOPE!!!I had water with me and 5 minutes walking

to a car then waiting for the idiot to return with the keys......needless to

say ..after that I went into bldgs and sat in ac and my friend and salesman

brought car to bldg and me for test drives.....did have some pleasant rides

....but I remember now ...I always shop for cars in Feb and Mar.....Got to go

Debs just called ...going to call her back.....Judy in AZ

Judy,

On the toilet stories. I remember the NY thruway too-paying. We held the

door too- Mom and 2 girls, and for the next person who came along after us.

Camping, my older daughters went camping when they were 12-18 with a Church

youth group each summer. They had to dig their own latrines and the seat

was sticks. Now my youngest-12. The others are 23 & 25. She went to girls

camp and they had indoor toilets, showers and slept in cabins and had a

dining hall where one lady (a gourmet cook), caters lots of weeding

receptions at Church did all the cooking. and a cooked every

meal over an open fire and made a shower with lake water.

I was great at " holding it " as a kid because in the summers we had an

outhouse. A criteria for a new friend was indoor plumbing!.

Now we show dairy goats and it's porta-potties all the way-by the 2nd day of

a fair-yuk!

I never said it would be easy, I said it would be worth it
