Guest guest
LeeAnn, Do you know if it's possible to give too much Omega 3's? I'm giving Nordic Naturals Pro-EFA plus CLO. My DD has broken out with a fever blister in the corner of her mouth and I'm wondering if it could be from the A. Guest guest
That's a good sign -- the viruses that have been dormant are being fought now. It's hard to get too much fish oil -- but you can get too much CLO. BUT -- it's A LOT more than you're giving. Dr McCandless' Vit A protocol is about 200,000 iu vitamin A for several days in a row (varies by weight). For the cold sore -- consider olive leaf extract or monolaurin. > > LeeAnn, Do you know if it's possible to give too much Omega 3's? > I'm giving Nordic Naturals Pro-EFA plus CLO. Guest guest
Thanks, that's great to know. Just got the super Carlson capsules and plan to up it to about 4000 mg a day. Guest guest
Kathy, this isn't a cure, but Zovirax takes the pain away like no other and it's suppose to minimize from 7 to 5 days on cold sores, expensive but if you have insurance it's not so bad. Guest guest
Actually I don't think the " chelated " part of minerals is as important as the purity of the source. There were some test recently on standard OTC calcium supplements and many contained lead. I try to stick with very reliable companies - but even that isn't a sure bet. I am a strong believer in adding magnesium supplements for all of us - constipated or not. We all suffer from a deficiency of minerals -- trace minerals are sort of the forgotten one. > > > > > > LeeAnn, Do you know if it's possible to give too much Omega 3's? > > > I'm giving Nordic Naturals Pro-EFA plus CLO. Guest guest
Hi Lee Ann, Abby was just really sick for like 3 days. She had a high fever which she has not had in years, fever blister, cold, bad cough. We thought she had pneumonia. She was negative for strep and ear infection. Am wondering if the CLO I'm giving her could have brought up this dormant virus? I know she's not getting a high dose but the illness was very suspicious. Fever spiking up and down. Am encouraged her immune system may be kicking back in. Any thoughts? Guest guest
We really run in parallel universes. My son has had a virus for the past 6 days -- with fever spikes of 103. He had a minor red rash that went away within a few hours. Now it is a cough and some nasal drip. I had him on OLE for several months that seemed to kick up yeast, so I reduced the OLE and added biotin and other yeast strategies. Well -- I wonder if that opened the door to the virus too. It sort of seems like strep, but no red throat. His sister got it a day or two later and she test neg for strep. Yes, I think this may be a good sign, on day 2 I gave him normal CLO dose with added vitamin A to help give his body some extra help. 2 - 3 weeks ago he had a fever blister. The odd thing is that in the middle of this, my son's speech became more clear and longer sentences. Today he seems to have regressed. Urgh -- where is the magic ball when you need it? There is a group MB12/Valrex that has had great results with Valtrex and other antivirals. Anyway, there is a school of thought that kids whose immune systems were compromised due to vaccines have to peel the layers of the viral load in order to heal. It's beginning to look to me like they know what they are talking about. > >> > >> LeeAnn, Do you know if it's possible to give too much Omega 3's? > >> I'm giving Nordic Naturals Pro-EFA plus CLO. Guest guest
yes, it feels like another world alright ! it was a weird sickness. low fever, then a spike with a wheezing cough. no rashes, but a nasal drip as well and of course, not eating and very pale and weak. then when the fever went back down she was a happy camper. usually it's tough taking her out in public, especially when sick but she just bopped on over to the doctors and waited over an hour then was so tolerate of going to the hospital and having a chest x-ray. weird. now she's well and she's back to her usual off and on anxieties. i have to take this as very positive. am almost afraid to up the A dosage because of more virus's rearing their ugly heads, but am still thankful for her fever. i swear she's not had one in years. i'm going to run this scenario by dr. mumper because we have not done anti-virals or high dose A. how old is your son btw? kathy Re: Fatty acid s -- fish oil supplementation -- the WHY > We really run in parallel universes. Guest guest
Hi! I wanted to mention about the fever! You also mentioned that your son seemed more verbal etc. I dont have the article, can try to find. But another group had brought to our attention that some scientist are finding that when spectrum children run fevers, everything improves with the child, speech, attention, etc. This is something new catching attention with the medical world. To me it makes sense if you see spectrum as a viral issue. Fevers are our best defense/improvement when it comes to virus's. Guest guest
Hi! Can you tell me if the omega's helped with stools? Did you guys start due to spectrum issues or constipation or both? My son is doing well and I am interested in starting omega's, mainly for verbal issues (he is non verbal and older son is considered adhd) etc. , but am curious if you seen improvements with stools? We have the flaxseed and fish oils. Our flaxseed is organic, but not our fish oil! I havent given my gi son any form of omega's yet due to working through other supplements! Im going to wait until I go to big city/organic store to get him fish oil(due to mercury), but want to start learning from your experiences. Im going to go ahead with the flax-oil for him. What amounts do you guys recommend starting with(he is 8yrs/around 43 lbs)? Have you tried both forms of omega's(flax/fish) and what did you prefer! But mainly stools, improved? I went a few posts back and still not sure on the main topic for omega's, constipation/spectrum? I have seen in other groups on the vitamin A treatments and still very leary due to we cant excrete it, but am interested on reading about. Do you have a link on Dr. McCandless Vit A protocol? When I was a teen, I was put on a medication for severe acne. Cleared it up very good. This med was only used for those with severe cases due to side affects! I was surprised to find out it was some form of large mega doses of vitamin A. The treatment is good for life, Im guessing this is due to the body retaining vitamin A! Thanks, Jennie<>< > > > > LeeAnn, Do you know if it's possible to give too much Omega 3's? > > I'm giving Nordic Naturals Pro-EFA plus CLO. Although my dd is diagnosed autistic she is globally apraxic. So, I started her on Nordic Naturals Pro-EFA. This one is very safe and high quality. I actually purchase it from Kirkman. My daughter is 13 and I give her the full adult dose but started with half. I have to say in a matter of a few weeks her eczema that she had in the same place behind one ear and in the hairline for YEARS cleared up completely ! Not sure if it helps with stools. I have to say probably no, because she still struggles with constipation, and we have to use MOM or she would not go. I hope this is helpful. LeeAnn can give you more in-depth info.I'm sure. Guest guest
Thank you Kathy! Is your daughter non verbal or does she have some speech? My son is considered non verbal, but thankfully is starting to baby babble(he is 8yrs). And this is even sporadic! Thats great that it has helped her eczema. When my sons flares up(typically inner arm bends), aloe juice clears his up! I well check into Kirkmans(if you have the link that would be great!) I might see if my supplier carries it also!! Jennie wrote: http://www.apraxia-kids.org/atf/cf/%7B145BA46F-29A0-4D12-8214-8327DCBAF0A4%7D/richardson.pdf ( see article)Jennie, I started Omega's after learning how they can help kids with apraxia. Although my dd is diagnosed autisticshe is globally apraxic. So, I started her on Nordic Naturals Pro-EFA. This one is very safe and high quality. I actuallypurchase it from Kirkman. My daughter is 13 and I give her the full adult dose but started with half. I have to say in a matterof a few weeks her eczema that she had in the same place behind one ear and in the hairline for YEARS cleared up completely !Not sure if it helps with stools. I have to say probably no, because she still struggles with constipation, and we have to useMOM or she would not go.I hope this is helpful. LeeAnn can give you more in-depth info.I'm sure.Kathy Re: Fatty acid s -- fish oil supplementation -- the WHY> Hi! Can you tell me if the omega's helped with stools? Guest guest
http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/products/fatty_acids/fattyacid_index.html Here's the link. She was totally non-verbal until age 5 and we introduced PEC's. Before that she had 2 years of oral motor therapy. After PEC's she started saying some single words, and to this day that's about all she has except a few phrases and greetings. She can imitate pretty well too but it's spontaneous language that is very difficult for her and she's not conversational. She uses a dynavox and can communicate her basic needs to us. A lot of people carry Nordic Naturals but make sure you get the pharmaceutical grade and I also find Kirkman's to be a little cheaper ! Guest guest
The acne product is Retin A and it can be toxic due to the fact that it's a synthetic version of vitamin A. From what I have read, the vitamin A you get from cod liver oil is much safer due to the fact that the liver knows how to handle it vs the synthetic version. As far as healing. It's been one year of daily high vitamin cod liver oil and 2-3 fish or flax oil capsules. There's more to our protocol than that -- but my typing isn't that good! I think that it has helped heal the GI tract, which has meant that the constipation is basically gone. BUT, I still give my son 500mg +/- of different forms of magnesium every day. We still battle yeast. So it's not smooth sailing but it has helped. Re diagnosis. The only diagnosis my son has is Sensory Disturbance and Developmental delay. Socially he's fine, his speech is delayed and he could probably be labeled with apraxia. I find the whole diagnosis this tiring -- the waits are long, the time it takes to get a proper diagnosis is extremely long, etc. I have concentrated on getting therapies and healing my kids guts -- I really don't want to pay a psych to tell me what I already know. Sorry - bad day -- had to vent!! > > > > > > LeeAnn, Do you know if it's possible to give too much Omega 3's? > > > I'm giving Nordic Naturals Pro-EFA plus CLO. Guest guest
Yep -- we are going after viruses in a big way. I am planning on trying Valtrex -- which is a big step for anti-pharmaceutical me! > > > >> > > > >> LeeAnn, Do you know if it's possible to give too much Omega > 3's? > > > >> I'm giving Nordic Naturals Pro-EFA plus CLO. Guest guest
Sorry Kathy -- missed this post. OLE -- big difference for us. Much better results with Gaia OLE -- is a liquid inside a gelcap. You have yeast concerns too right? Try biotin -- we are almost to the point of diarrhea here with yeasty stools coming out. Could be the fever last week broke things up too. For those of us with kids that have NEVER had diarrhea, you know what an amazing sight this is! Guest guest
I bought a NOW liquid. What are you giving, a few drops? Do you get die off with it? She's already on several probiotics. BTW since this virus/fever she's had liquid stools ! Re: Fatty acid s -- fish oil supplementation -- the WHY > Sorry Kathy -- missed this post. OLE -- big difference for us. Guest guest
Hey. late, but very appreciated ! She's very well now. My DH uses it, speaking of which he just got one. Anyone know how much OLE a grown man would use?? Kathy Kathy, this isn't a cure, but Zovirax takes the pain away like no other and it's suppose to minimize from 7 to 5 days on cold sores, expensive but if you have insurance it's not so bad. Prescription only O.K. just ordered the OLE from iherb, been giving 2000 of lysine the past week.Thnx !!!!>>>> That's a good sign -- the viruses that have been dormant are being>> fought now. It's hard to get too much fish oil -- but you can> get>> too much CLO. BUT -- it's A LOT more than you're giving. Dr>> McCandless' Vit A protocol is about 200,000 iu vitamin A for> several>> days in a row (varies by weight).>> For the cold sore -- consider olive leaf extract or monolaurin.>>
