Guest guest
Hi Lynn: What my son had done was called a duodenojejunostomy because it had to do with a narrowing near the duodenum. What the doctor did was to re-route his intestines another way by cutting and then reconnecting two parts of his intestine so as to make a wider route for the food to pass through before it went to the narrowed part. He still has the narrowing near the duodenum but also has the other route for the food to travel so that the narrowing does not become blocked again. I don't believe they removed any part of his intestine - just cut and stitched two ends of intestine away from the duodenum (the doctor says you can't mess with that) together to make another route for the food. It's all pretty confusing to me still. Hope this helps and dosen't further confuse the issue!
