Guest guest
Dear Jackie, Thanks for sending us your update with your rheumatologist. I created a file and entered it into our Member Medical History Files. I couldn't find a " case history " that you sent in, so I pieced two emails together. Your dr. sounds quite thorough! I imagine she has already done a chest x-ray to check for sarcoidosis and the various blood work to look for infections? Those are usually done first. Sounds like the drugs you are going to try are the ones that quite a few of our members have experience with, especially those with RA, Sarc. and Crohn's. With MD and Glaucoma, you are already under the care of an opthalmologist and probably already have a baseline field test, so that is good. You might want to show this site to your doctor. If nothing shows up in the cat scan, she might get some ideas of what else to look for. Just give her the group site: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/ and she can read all the resources. I would not be surprised if we have more info. here than in many medical books. Have a Happy Day, Jackie! Love, PS: I'm getting good results from wearing my TED stocking too. It really keeps the redness and edema down. > Hi & Group, > Just got back from the Rheumatologist to see what treatment she had > in mind after having the biopsy done last month. Guest guest
Yes , the blood work and chest x-rays have already been done as you suspected. The doctor I am going to is very thorough and I am so glad to have found her. As for my opthomologist, I had just gone to him last week and after talking to him today he said to please call back for an appointment within 6 months so he can check the retina. I will keep you posted from time to time as to what is going on. Thanks for all your help. This is a good group and glad I joined as I've found out a lot since joining last month. Guest guest
Hey everyone and I hope you are breathing well. Off topic of the rest of this post, I read in prevention magazine that Pine bark extract really helped people with their asthma in an Iranian study, and that 65% of the people in the study were able to reduce their meds. Worth researching. I went to the doctor today to see the physician assistant and it has to be the worst visit I have ever had (even including the doctor I went to for chronic fatigue in my twenties who told me it was because I was " too pretty " and probably suffering from too much attention). I brought my records from my old primary where I moved from and she looked at the tests and then said she thinks she wants to move forward with a psychiatric evalution. I told her my forehead and temples have so much pressure I feel like they are going to explode, and my wheezing has gotten worse since the move. She said in a rude voice " Well, you're not wheezing now. " I guess she actually thought I was making up the wheezing, not sure why the documents from emergency noting wheezing didn't help. She grilled me about drug use and seemed suspicious when I said " No, I don't drink, no I don't smoke, I don't use drugs, I don't use marajuana " Then she asks do you ingest marajuana or intake it in any other way? " My god, get off the marajuana, I don't even drink coffee for gosh sakes. I finally had to say " Do you think you might want to consider my sinuses since I am telling you my head feels like it is going to explode and my sinuses are inflamed? " She said she would review my sinus x-ray from a few months ago (one an allergist ordered and said I had an infection, and my primary disagreed and said she didn't think I needed the antibiotics prescribed) and possibly order another to match them. But at this point I have no intention of going back even if she does decide I am actually in need of medical care. Thanks for listening, I am just so frustrated. It's hard enough being sick without getting insentive rude physician's assistants.

Guest guest
Thanks all. It is frustrating. I was going to a primary because I need a new primary because I moved. But I am going to another on Wednesday. I think I need a new allergist too though, because the allergist I went to is the opposite of the PA, he doesn't think anything is in my head and always tries to presribe oral prednisone and antibiotics for everything. I'm going to retry the Nasonex in the meantime, I had a mild side effect but i'm going to try again and see if it happens this time. > > > > Oh I just hate it when doctors treat you that way. I have had that > in the past. > >  > >   Cheryl Burton > >                    ncicheryl@  > >              > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Doctor's Visit > > > > > > Hey everyone and I hope you are breathing well. Guest guest
Similar thing here. I used to smoke. That ended very suddenly one day last August when I was lying on the floor of my car without enough breath to call 911. So, I have been smoke free for a year now, but everytime I check out of the hospital it includes quit smoking instructions. I guess there are some things you just can't medically out run. Guest guest
I think that quit smoking thing is just a generic part of the forms, if it's the same thing they do here. I asked the nurse once and she said they put that on all the forms if you are there for respiratory reasons. And congrats on quiting!!! Dork gives a known asthmatic prescription cough syrup and tessalon pearls with antibiotics to treat me. I said thats not going to be enough...and he told me thats all he can give me b/c thats all I need. I told him that when Ive had bronchitis before (at least every 6 months for 3 years) Ive also had a prednisone burst and an additional inhaler. He refused. I ended up calling the office back 2 days later and got the same message from the dr's secretary. I argued with her to the point that she finally said well if you think you need that medicine so bad, you can come in but we will have to work you in between his other patients. I said Id be there b/c I didnt care how long it took him to see me, since I know what I need. I waited an hour and he got me in. He took one listen to my chest and said, no lie, " You are so congested and full that if we dont get you cleared out by 2 days from now you'll end up in the hospital." And then he proceeded to give me exactly what I asked him for over the phone. At that point I just asked him "Will you listen to me now when I tell you what I need" Two months later the doc asked him to leave the practice over complaints from other patients.Get the MapQuest Toolbar.
