Guest guest
Heidi, your description of snorkeling made me want to go out today and take it up again. I do love the water. Stan and I are going on a vacation to Navarre Beach (in the Florida panhandle) in a week and a half. I think I'll look into snorkeling. I just have to remember to load up on sunscreen, since I'm very photosensitive. You'll be able to quit smoking, I have no doubt. I'll be praying for strength for you and your husband. Sending much love, Carol [ ] a Hi a, Thanks so much for those smoking links, I'm going to check them out and send them to my husband (he's got to stop with me or it will be really hard ) Don't worry I would never want to smack you LOL! Thanks too for posting the article on the birth defect risks of new drugs. I've stopped taking Celebrex and am only taking 6mg of Prednisone right now plus vitamins to try and minimize the risks in case I fall pregnant. My Rheumy has told me that if I do then I can carry on the Pred with no risk throughout pregnancy - hoping for that much touted " remission " for 9 months though - wow that would be great! I hope someone has some news of Debs today. It's funny, we're coming to the end of winter here, I can't wait to start swimming again! Although our winters are very mild compared to yours everything is relative and we find it cold so don't swim of course, but I love swimming, especially in the sea! That's one of the advantages of living on an island surrounded by coral reefs, the sea is calm like a big swimming pool and the snorkeling is lovely. I love snorkeling, it is just so relaxing - I've come to the conclusion that it's a great form of meditation, your body is totally relaxed, you have to take slow deep breaths for a long time and your mind is at peace with all the beautiful fish and sea creatures to watch. And it's a nice relaxing " sport " for the RA. (I'm a real ninny when it comes to sharks though - yikes- we don't get sharks inside the reefs but it's always in the back of my mind so it's not 100% relaxation but at least 95%! I'm always worried Jaws is just around the next bend.. de dum ^ de dum ^ de dum ^ dedumdedumdedum ^ ^ ^ : - O ! :-) But it doesn't stop me enjoying it, just a little phobia. It would be great if you had a heated pool, then you wouldn't have to stop. I hope you have a lovely day! Hugs, Heidi _________________________________________________________________ Join the world's largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com
Guest guest
Hey Carol, You'll be in my neck of the woods. Do I remember you saying something about coming this way every year to vacation? My rheumatologist is in Pensacola. It is amazing to me every time I drive through Navarre how much it has changed in the last 20 years. I had dinner at Calypsos on Pensacola Beach the last time I had a doctor's appointment. Really cool restaurant, good food and lots of it, right on the Gulf. I can't believe how much Pensacola Beach has changed over the years either. Not much I recognize anymore. If you've never been, Hopkins Boarding House is another one of my favorites eateries, in the historic area of Pensacola. Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, Thanks so much for the " inside information " on Pensacola. Finding the perfect place for dinner is always a challenge. I'm a big seafood fan, and Stan's kind of lukewarm about seafood (and allergic to shellfish). He usually goes for a steak. I've written the name of both places down, and we 'll almost certainly try one of them. It's not me who goes to Pensacola every year, so it must have been someone else in the group. Matter of fact, it's been many years since I've been to Pensacola beach (15 or more.I was in college). I'm hoping the surf at the Gulf beaches will be a little tamer than it was in Vero Beach last month. I came home pretty sore from that. I hope you're having a good weekend! Love and hugs, Carol Re: [ ] Snorkeling Hey Carol, You'll be in my neck of the woods. Do I remember you saying something about coming this way every year to vacation? Guest guest
Carol, You'll be in safe hands in either restaurant if Stan doesn't like seafood. Hopkins is down home southern cooking at its best, my favorite days, of course, are the days they serve southern fried chicken. Lots of side dishes, everything served at communal tables, eat as much as you want. Calypsos serves seafood and beef so shouldn't run into trouble there either. Dinners are served with small loaves of hot banana bread, choice of ceasar salad/bowl of fresh fruit/soup plus entree with veg/potato sides. Sides are hard to explain, they're incorporated with the main dish and depend on what the main dish is. If you have never had sweet potato french fries, you are in for a treat. We all gobbled them off one of our dining party's dish! I thought it sounded awful, I was happily proved otherwise. Unless we're having a hurricane, shouldn't worry too much about surf. Gulf is usually like a big lake! Suzanne (sending virtual chocolate chip cookies to everyone...) RE: [ ] Snorkeling > Hi Suzanne, > > Thanks so much for the " inside information " on Pensacola.
