June, please ask to see the specialist no matter what your GP says! You

can't be too careful with your foot. This is not an insignificant

problem - systemic infection and amputation are serious risks. Even

though you didn't take the last four, I am a bit worried that you are on

again on Enbrel with this infection. I can understand that you don't

want to flare with your busy schedule, but I do hope you will talk to

several of your physicians about your foot, the meds, and the treatment.

What is your rheumatologist saying? What about your podiatrist?

Calling Dr. Keystone! Calling Dr. Keystone! Emergency advice and hugs

needed for June!

chose to go to the University of Iowa and is studying biomedical

engineering (so far, LOL!). is a sophomore in high school (15 -

almost driving!), and is in 5th grade (sweet baby). Who are those

people who told me years ago that the kids grow up in a blink of an eye?

They were right.

> Hi ,thanks for the great links since they educated me about foot

ulcers a lot more than I thought. I have been loathe to talk about this

problem too much because in light of everyone else's problems, this

seemed relatively insignificant. I missed 4 injections of Enbrel then

started back on Monday since I don't want to end up in a flare with my

agenda for Sept full. I just want it to go away in time for my feet

surgery on Nov 28. Depending on what my GP says on Tuesday,I may ask to

be referred to a specialist. Now, seeing Ed Keystone just might be an

option since just getting another hug from him would certainly make me

feel better. Where is attending college? You must miss her. What

grade is in?

Hi June,

Foot ulcers can be extremely serious. I would like to share a personal story

with you. My grandmother had poor circulation in her lower legs because of

an auto accident in which my grandfather died. It went on for several years

before she developed foot ulcers. This was in the days before they did

venous dopplers and arterial bypasses. The ulcers would never completely

heal. They would get better, but never heal. She felt that since they

didn't cause pain, that it really wasn't that bad. To make a long story

short, gangrene developed and she lost her leg below the knee. I would

really hate to hear of this happening to you. Please take care of those

ulcers. They can cause horrible complications. I only relate this story

because I truly care and hope that I haven't offended you. I don't want to

frighten you, only let you know what can happen.

With Love,

Stacey in PA
