Hi Heidi,

Thursday it is! I am with you. I am sure that if we really put our minds to

it, we can do it together. I'll just need to go to the store and get lots

of carrots, celery and Charms Blow Pops (my favorite). I tried the patch

once before, but they are so expensive that I couldn't keep buying them. So

I think I'll go cold turkey this time and see what happens.

Love and Hugs

Good for you Heidi and Stacey!

Way to go! I quit a 2 1/2 pack a day habit 1 year and 7 months ago.

I quit with the help of Zyban (second try took) and Hall's cough

drops and lots of strong peppermint candies. I haven't smoked a ciggy

since. It's a tough thing to do, and the withdrawal systoms are the

pits! You have headaches, sore throat, sleepless and achy. Kinda

like RA. I did gain a lot of weight, which I'm working on now. But

it's a lot less unhealthy then smoking.

I still have cravings, especially when my " RA " flares up. I was

diagnoised with RA after I quit. But I know that it would be worse

if I started smoking again. I'm miss the taste of food again. I'm

miss the smell of the morning without smoke. I'm having problems

with my breathing from COPD from smoking. But it seems to be getting

better with the inhalers. Lots of reasons not to go back.

If you need some support, I'm here. There are also a lot of good web

sites out there to help you with your quit. LOTS OF SUPPORT is what

helped me through it. Just like the RA Forum.

I'll be cheering for ya!

a lot of friends here that know what you're going through. Soon your food

will taste better as well as the fresh air.

Congratulations, Susie. It takes guts, doesn't it?

I didn't gain weight when I quit. I was already fat, and I didn't get any

fatter. (I have lost my excess weight since then.) I didn't have the bad

withdrawal symtoms that you had. I do NOT have cravings and cannot imagine

being tied to that dirty, expensive habit again. It didn't take any time at

all for my cough to go away.

It's the best thing I've ever done for my health.

Thank You Sue,

It was tough, I'll tell ya. But I feel sometimes like I've never

smoked and sometimes I feel soooo much like a ciggy that I have get

busy with something to get my mind off smoking. But it's not that

hard.
