Guest guest
I thought I should post an update concerning my daughter with Hashi's. I want to thank all of you for your advice. Here are her new labs on .5mg Synthroid for three weeks. T-4 FREE 1.4 range .9-1.4 TSH 2.17 .7-6.4 T-4 (THYROXINE), 9.4 1.4-3.8 TOTAL I like the T-4 Free number. The Endo's nurse said Free T-4 looks good, TSH could be a little lower but that can take longer than the 3 weeks that she was on meds to level out. I liked that comment-to me it showed that they may not be a " anything within the lab normal range is perfectly okay " . How is she feeling? Better, not perfect, but better. She is out of bed by 8:30 instead of 10 or 11:00 and smiles a whole lot more than she was this summer. Come mid-afternoon she still looks icky and just lies around. I realy don't think she is playing me-doesn't have the personality for that. (My son on the other hand would milk it.) She does say that her stomach aches have went away, which is awesome to her. She said that she did not realize how much it bothered her until it stopped. The goiter on her neck is still hurting her when she moves it fast or just the right way. I haven't read a whole lot of people saying that their goiters hurt. I had a friend that used to be an Endo feel her throat and they did not feel any nodules. I am remaining optimistic that in a few weeks she will feel even better. In 8 weeks we have more blood tests and a dr visit. If all the symtoms aren't better by then I'll have to go to bat for her and start asking for different meds. My husband and I are feeling much better (we both have Hashi's). Because our PC had always kept us at 5.0 TSH instead of the 3.0 we both have continued to have symptoms. Until my daughter got sick I thought this was normal. We upped our meds and both feel better. My husband gave blood-this a free way of getting your cholesterol and triglycerides checked. His cholesterol had dropped 15 points. He is eating the same food, excercising the same, etc. Just by tweaking his meds to go below that 5 it has gotten better. I have had psorisis like patches on my knees (an infrequent symptom of Hashis). They no longer itch and have reduced in size by more than half. The PC can't argue with outward physical symptoms and better blood work. Good luck to everyone. I really enjoy reading your posts and learning so much.
