Guest guest
Jan, Many thanks for posting this! What some people may also find interesting to read for more background into the State of CT, is that the CDC removed the mandatory requirement into the reporting of Lyme Disease (and presumably the other 'Tick Borne Infections' commonly associated with Lyme Disease. Being polite, I ask outloud whether this is perhaps a deliberate attempt to reduce the numbers annually reported by the CDC who already acknowledges under-reporting to already being a problem (i.e. only 10-20% of cases reported under the 'old' system). This was done a few years ago... (see statements for timelines and reporting). This is reiterated in some of the following statements I've provided links to, and these official statements may also be of help for 'newbies' with their GPs (and others) in trying to explain the complexity of Lyme/TBIDs and testing. Dr. Fallons statement addresses this very nicely as do others below... In the statement from Dr. Fallon, it indicates that this has caused a 71.7% drop in one of the most endemic areas of the United States... so it will also be interesting to see if the recent 'Press Release' about the IDSA will come into play with respect to reporting.
