Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I just got back from seeing the pulmonologist. Everything is fine. In fact, he said my lungs are in better shape than most healthy people. I guess 15 years of exercising has paid off. On a bad note, I need more tests to determine why my weight is down. I have a feeling they suspect cancer, but hopefully am mistaken. My blood came back okay except for my calcium being high again. They want to do other blood work and check my hormones, etc. I also need a pelvic and abdominal CT done next Friday. I can't wait to drink the barium. LOL! I am staying upbeat and positive and know that there could be a million other less threatening causes for the loss of weight. At least I have a great medical team working with me here. Also, I feel really good. I would think someone with something so severe wouldn't. Hope you are all having a great and painfree day. Love you all, Al
Guest guest
Oh, Al. I'm sure you must be so worried about this weight loss situation. You and are in my prayers and hopefully the weight loss will be from something benign. I'm glad to hear things went well with the pulmonologist. I hope you have some answers soon. Remember, you're not alone, and we're all here right by your side. Sending much love and many prayers, Carol [ ] Tests and more tests... Hi Everyone, I just got back from seeing the pulmonologist. Guest guest
Hi Al, I've never had the barium, but I hear its a real thrill. Try not to get to ecxited about it. I hope everything goes well and they find the problem rather quickly. I am sitting here trying to rationalize going out to the convenience store for cigs. I'm getting pretty good at it. Rationalizing that is. I don't smoke that much. Less than a half pack per day. The dr. doesn't even bring it up anymore. My lungs are clear. Guest guest
Oops, hit the wrong button by mistake. Anyway, back to the rationalizing... I don't even sit in the smoking section in restaurants. I don't smoke in the house. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. I guess I'm waiting for someone to say, " You're not that bad, go ahead and keep smoking. " But I don't think that's going to happen any time soon. I don't know if I am ready to do this. I'm trying. Best of luck on those tests. Hope they are not too uncomfortable for you. Love and Hugs Stacey in PA

Guest guest
Hi Al, Well, another one in the win column for our Bears! My sister said that they had an SRO crowd for the game on Sunday. She said that most of Soldier's Field is pretty much leveled and work is progressing. Still quite a ride from Chicago down to Champagne-Urbana to see the game, but at least you are not blacked out! Been reading about your tests and such. Keeping all my fingers crossed for positive results and answers to some very important questions. Give our love, it is a helpless role that the spouse plays in this disease. But we all know that the shoe could be on the other foot and we would be right there next to our spouse too. I told Carol that I don't know that I can make a fall trip to Chicago, but definitely springtime, so we will give you and your Mom a little more time to get ready for us. Springtime in Chicago is just as pretty with the tulips in bloom and the cool breezes and showers. Well, time to take another pain pill, boy this disease sure hurts! I am beginning to think that pain pills are part of the food pyramid! Hang in there, friend. Answers are around the corner and you will have all of us to help you face them and get thru it. G O B E A R S !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love, Lucy.......shaking her head saying " you got some xplaining to do doctor! "
Guest guest
I didn't realize that the doctors actually said it. I'm sure it's scary, Al, but they would be remiss if they didn't rule cancer out. Do you know how high your calcium levels are? Are they higher than 14 mg/dL? Has your appetite changed? That is, is your weight loss occurring even though you are eating as you always did? I'm glad that you are remaining optimistic. That's the best way to be! I'm sure the testing, retesting, theorizing, and waiting stinks. I'm really sorry about that. Hope you can enjoy this weekend and the beautiful weather with your wife and kids. Guest guest
Hi , My rheumy did but just wanted to cover all the bases. I have always appreciated her honesty with me. My calcium was only a 12 but this has been happening on and off for a few months. I was actually eating more and lost the weight. The problems with my breathing contributed I'm sure, but my doctors don't think I should have lost this much weight. I had a nice weekend with the family and even got to take on a " date " last night which was great. Thanks for all of your well wishes. I really appreciate it. Love and hugs, Al > I didn't realize that the doctors actually said it.
