One person on this list said their doctor told them

not to take any caffeine within 2 hours of her meds.

What happens is it metabolises the thyroid too quickly.

I tend to agree... especially when I used to take my

Armour in the afternoon, I would feel really shaky and

like my blood sugar was dropping if I took it too close

to my afternoon cappuccino.

Now I try to not do coffee within 4 hours of my morning

meds, but don't always succeed... I do abide by the 2 hour

rule though.. you know not to eat anything within 1 hour

and no calcium or iron within 4 hours, right?

> Does anyone know if caffeine impedes the absorption of synthroid? I

do take my meds on an empty stomach but then have coffee after taking

it. I am wondering if this would cause problems.

Strawberries and broccoli are goitrogenic (see the

full list in the Links section of our site), but

that just means eat them in moderation. Cooking

most of the foods on the list takes away most of

the goitrogenic properties.

Thanks for the info, I usually take the tablet first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, then midday lunch time take the calcuim, Vitamens etc. during the meal. Didn't know about Strawberries or broccoli, not that I eat much of either. suuzin wrote: Strawberries and broccoli are goitrogenic (see thefull list in the Links section of our site), but that just means eat them in moderation.
