Xylitol chewing gum in prevention of acute otitis media: double blind

randomised trial

We were able to show a clear decrease in the occurrence of acute

otitis media among the children who used chewing gum containing

xylitol.

Conclusion: Xylitol seems to have a preventive effect against acute

otitis media.
