Guest guest
Hi all I am posting this only on this site since I believe everyone checks it. Just an update. National Jewish is still dragging their feet. I got a letter last week saying it would be another 4-6 weeks before anyone even contacted me with an appointment date because they had to change the department who would be coordinating my care. Then it would be another 4-6 weeks to actually get the appointment. My docs are going ballistic. Even Workers Comp is making phone calls to them. So, Dr.Beebe and Workers Comp decided to contact Mayo clinic in ville, FL yesterday. Mayo says that it will take them 2 weeks to get all my medical records and process me. Then on average another 2 weeks to get me admitted and started. The Mayo process starts as inpatient then moves to outpatient. Also no plane flight to ville. Just a 8 hour drive. Today Dr.Beebe and W/C are both calling National Jewish again to let them know that if they can't get off their butts and get this moving I will be going on to Mayo instead. Even though everyone would prefer the #1 hospital, my condition is such that I just can't wait that long. The docs don't think the steroids will be enough to keep me off a vent for that length of time, and try flying on a ventilator. Wouldn't be pretty. So short term nothing changes - take the steroids to try to stabilize the lungs (and they really seem to be doing well. Blew a 350 this morning. That is a major improvement in my PFs, but my O2 sats are not doing as well - must be mucus from this cold). So that is the news on this front. I may not get my first choice because I can't wait on their schedule, but at least I will get seen by someone soon. Madeline
