Guest guest
...I have to tell you this story as I think of it everytime I read your posts....a couple of years ago ...we took a ride and stopped at an out of the way antique mercantile...the owner had a miniture goat named Daisy...for me it was love at first sight,,,so everytime after someone asked me what I wanted for birthday...Xmas...whatever I said a miniture goat....last spring my husband came home with this big grin on his face and said there is something on the front lawn for you.....never thinking it would be an animal....because he gripes about the zoo all the time....I went out to find the most adorable miniture billy goat I had ever seen....instant love...and as he was still being bottled fed it fed my maternal instinct as well....we got a huge dog kennel and were going to house break him that way ..as they can be trained to be good house pets and will ask to go out like a dog...anyway fit right in and was doing great...my eight year old loved feeding him and we were crazy about him...one day I said where is ? As he followed us everywhere helping clean and do chores...we found him in the kitchen ...we thought asleep...I went over to pick him up and realized he was gone ...I was devastated...I took him to the vet thinking I had done something awful or wrong and killed poor ....they told me years ago people raised what they called fainting goats....they were used at state fairs and shows as people thought it was funny to see a goat faint...it was caused by something in the way they were bred that they had blood pressure fluctuations...anyway over the years they have tried to breed it out unfortunatly in my goat it was still in his genes...and his faint was never returned from....I was devesstated and have never replaced him...it was an experience I never forgot...I still love to see goats and we visit a farm close to us that raises goats but I just have never been able to get another one...but when I see your posts it brings back good memories of ....Kathi in OK --- Temple <dat2352@...> wrote: > Kathi, > A girl after my own heart. Guest guest
Hi Kathi...when the kids were little we lived way out in the country on some acreage. I miss those days. The kids always had animals, and at night I'd go out on the deck that overlooked the valley and lsten to the owls and coyotes. We had an ecentric elderly " neighbor " a mile away whose cattle liked to roam all over our land....when I called to talk to him, he gave ME a talking to about how it is still Free Range in Oregon (not where I lived). Then there was the morning I awoke to hoofs clomping on our deck....another neighbor's horse. MY eldest daughter won many a ribbon showing rabbits with 4-H. Then we had the cutest little Nubian goat named, " Rootin' Tootin' Newton, the Neutered Nubian Puruvian Goat. " Th kids took turn feeding him with the big baby bottle. Ah, memories..... Love & Hugs.... Tess
Guest guest
You are right a quaker is not a duck it is a small parrot...some say parokeet but they are bigger....the call them quaker or monks because they are green with a grey bib...hence quaker or monk....one small bird with a very large personality.....I dont think goats smell bad...or any animal that is kept clean....hugs Heidi....Kathi in OK --- Heidi Steppe-Hoareau <steps122@...> wrote: > ((((((Kathi)))))) > That was so sad, I’m so sorry to hear about . > I’ve also always wanted > a goat – they’ve got such personality!
