Guest guest
I have posted here in the past about my daughter who is a withholder. She is now 19 months old. We were doing very well with maintenance doses of about 70mg/day of mag citrate, but we moved to another state at the end of December and she relapsed I guess due to the emotional stress, not having a pristine diet for (JUST)a few days, and many hours in the car. Anyway, I don't think I realized how bad she was backed up, last poop of any quantity was last Tues, after BabyLax supp when she hadn't gone in a few days and was starting to grab her belly, not sleep or eat. I had been upping mag when I realized she was constipated (takes a while to do anything for her when she gets backed up), currently at 200mg. Backed off because I realized that she is impacted. She filled 2 dipes last week after suppository, but I think she must have had more and since I didn't realize it, she is really backed up now. Her belly is hard, and diarrhea is going around the impaction. But as I said, I did a Babylax this morning and one this afternoon and she only had leakage. We don't have insurance and I don't have a pediatrician and manual disimpaction is last on the list of things I want done to her when she already is scared of pooping. I'm prepared to take her to the doc if I need to, but should I try a stimulant suppository, an enema, something else? Mag citrate has her upper tract loose, just need to clear that bottom out. And there has been lots of crying here by both of us. Feeling desperate. EM, mama to Cora the champion poop fighter
